A good fix could be any kind of stitching or trim on the trouser that delineates on/off target on the leg and adds to the look of the persona. Otherwise, the recipient of the shots will get tired of blows landing low on the knee (right Dreffan?). In a similar vien, how do you deal with people that j...

We must police our own. We must take them aside and explain the stain they are making on their honor. Call the Marshal over if they do not respond to reason. Educate on the foundation of the game: honor. Without honor there can be no glory. One individual can smear the name of a whole troop, squadro...

Adam Berry was selling this: I have had this helm for ages just sitting around my shop, its a pretty nice little hat. But like many unused things in my shop it must go, someone make me a reasonable offer and its yours. Also it has a row ...

I've never seen mild. You may have to make your own. Mine are GAA - 20 ga stainless (I wouldn't go mild because it would be FAR too much work to try to keep em rust free). Even blackened the cord would wear and expose the metal to the air. VERY popular are Adam Berry's D-Shape plate (stainless) m go...

you cannot demand it be close in look and dress and accoutrements, then claim some fantasy base for the combat. I SURE hope we can! I want to look pretty (and as close to authentic as I'm able) for the good of the society, but I dont want to REALLY kill anyone (or widow / orphan my wife / son) on t...

Hey, Female Fighters!
It was recommended to me that I should put a pic of a female fighter in armour (pref no helm) on: http://www.honorblade.com/demo.fighting.html
So, I'm asking...
Anyone who has such a pic (or knows someone that does) please send it to: ME!
mattyd@mattyd.com
THANKS!

Sure sounds like "surprise and smack" to me. If you are there to gain reknown, then why the big surprise? Even if it was "surprise and smack" (which I still content is arguable), it is not the "blindsiding" that is being touted as the impetus for DDFB. The general feeling was that there were guys r...

Masta'G (sorry, Master Geoffrey) made a 300 BC Celtic Helm for SCA. Not sure if that'w what you're looking for, but it may be a lead.

What you just described is one of the reasons why DFB is used out west, the tap tap, then the person turns and just as they recognize its an enemy they get pasted is IMHO, totally unchivalrous. If you are going let people know you are behind them, then let them get their guard up. sheesh, Juliana S...

We've been doing this for nearly forty years with little more than a few broken bones and twisted ankles, and I can't see where DKFB has made things more or less safe since its introduction I have to say that it really makes me feel good to see that the vast majority of fighters of all ranks agree ...

John Markham, Welcome to the club. I wish you much success and many long years. Per DDFB, I believe that if you were instructed correctly on how engagement works that you would change your mind. Unfortunately, you are in an area where DDFB is enjoyed and accepted. Therefore, you will be one who grow...

My hosting co inherrited some IP recently and I got a dedicated one for my mail server. Apparently AOL had it blacklisted (prob for spam) and refuses to un-blacklist it. I've yet to have someone "ignore me" when I came behind and fouled their offence and defence. How could they?? Especailly when I telling them they're surrounded and may want to yield. AGAIN, enforce the rules we have and we won't need to keep making new ones. DDFB: A passive death to an active fight...

One thing I have noticed is that several of the active college students quit after a year or two and then came back 4 or 5 years later once they were a little more stable in there lives. It seems that the Society benifits from this far more than the local group does. Thats worth the investment for ...

you can indeed move surprisingly well with a mucked-up leg, because pivoting and the like comes out of the hip and pelvis Gotta disagree and side with Balynar - "the hip bone is connected to the thigh bone" and all that. If you have soft tissue damage to the leg, you may still be able to fight, but...
