Making a mace head is an art form.
Mine was built, dismantled and rebuilt 7 times in one day to get it functional and estethic.

I used a dog toy and put strips of foam on it (the Adam Berry style).
He also has a maul made that way.

A good fix could be any kind of stitching or trim on the trouser that delineates on/off target on the leg and adds to the look of the persona. Otherwise, the recipient of the shots will get tired of blows landing low on the knee (right Dreffan?). In a similar vien, how do you deal with people that j...

We must police our own. We must take them aside and explain the stain they are making on their honor. Call the Marshal over if they do not respond to reason. Educate on the foundation of the game: honor. Without honor there can be no glory. One individual can smear the name of a whole troop, squadro...

Yes, unless no.
...or maybe.

If the attack puts the defender on the defence then yes.
If the attack was set up to be an ambush by the defender then no.
If its neither, then we'll have to wait and see.

I've never seen mild. You may have to make your own. Mine are GAA - 20 ga stainless (I wouldn't go mild because it would be FAR too much work to try to keep em rust free). Even blackened the cord would wear and expose the metal to the air. VERY popular are Adam Berry's D-Shape plate (stainless) m go...

Hey, Female Fighters!

It was recommended to me that I should put a pic of a female fighter in armour (pref no helm) on: http://www.honorblade.com/demo.fighting.html

So, I'm asking...
Anyone who has such a pic (or knows someone that does) please send it to: ME!

The SCA rules of the list cannot be compared to actual combat of pre 1600 - - or any other time. Can it?
We're re-creating, not re-enacting.

The most striking difference to me (Pas) is that WE call the blows not judges.

Sure sounds like "surprise and smack" to me. If you are there to gain reknown, then why the big surprise? Even if it was "surprise and smack" (which I still content is arguable), it is not the "blindsiding" that is being touted as the impetus for DDFB. The general feeling was that there were guys r...

What you just described is one of the reasons why DFB is used out west, the tap tap, then the person turns and just as they recognize its an enemy they get pasted is IMHO, totally unchivalrous.
