Syr Falcone,
I cannot see intentionally destroying someone elses property as in any way courteous. As you, I will "move" fiberglass spears out of the way, and don't mind when its done to me -- as long as the intent is not to break our friends toys. ;)

A problem we have avoided (that Syr Alfred's plan fixes), is that it will never be safe to strike a CA while they wear demi-gauntlets.

Bart Hightower made an excellent stab at it with his Four Rules of Combat Happiness . Kudos to this Gent for living by this mantra and asking others as well. I agree especially with his statement: It is a form of combat that has the potential to add significantly to our concept of re-creating medie...

This made me want to have velcro tiped arrows and wear a velcro vest!

I'd try it.
I'd bet we'd see archers working more in unison.

I think the archers will hate it, as much as if I speared a guy and he waved at me, and then kept on fighting.

I don't think most CAers would have a problem with face plate only. Honestly that is usually where I aim because it has the highest probability of being noticed. Syr Richard, Forgive me if I implied that the CA'rs were at fault, they were not. You really HAVE to try Adam Berry's arrows.

The only change I'd recommend would maybe to fill them with expansion foam. That way they'd never loose diameter, last longer, and not get crushed under foot.

War and "SCA War" are quite different things.

Respectfully,
The premis that since it's called "war" it is a war is flawed at the core, for our "fighting" does not approximate actual fighting in any manner.

"Sparring" would be a fair assessment.
