New fighter here has one.
It rang like a bell and rode high in the back.

We added a heavy chainmaile aventail over a heavy leather skirt to overlap the gorget. Now it's legal.

IMHO, I'd rather spend my $ on the Ironmonger Munition Grade Basinet

Armour as Worn against archers would indeed reward those who encumber themselves with closed face helms, cap'a pie, etc. However, I've been thinking about the difficulties of implementing it. - What would constitue "armour"? Obviously, the hidden armour would not be armour. Obviously the C...

1st and foremost, In order to make CA work in SCA stickfighting, it must fit with in the construct and conventions of SCA stickfighting. Once it does, it will gain wide (not universal, but much greater) acceptance. Until that time, it will continue to enjoy only tasset tolerance and be in danger of ...

Leopold der Wolf,

You're mixing reality with SCA stickfighting.

SCA stickfighting has nothing to do with real fighting.

I. Face shots only, or Make it feel like a telling blow. II. Limit the # of arrows each archer has to 1 arrow for every 3 min fighting or less depending on # of archers and # of fighters. No gleaning. All archers must have at least a spear/polearm/ or 2 sword authorization and must have fought that ...

The sport is rough and tumble. Your shield gets beat up so you don't. Unfortunately, I've had no success keeping paint on AL. I've had a little better success keeping paint on canvas that is glued to AL. I use a lot of clear laquor, and then the top coat I mist on from 5' away. This takes the gloss ...

Indeed. Though there is evidence of a manica and splinted limb defences in the Later 6th Century Roman Empire m I've yet to find any reference of it from the 1st-5th Centuries in Britannia. Remember that armour was worn to defeat certian threats. An armoured Persian with a bow would be a different t...

hidden legs - concept

So, I'm floating an idea for hidden and easy leg armour. I started to project with the intent that if its a dismal failure, I can still use it as loaner gear. I have a hole saw (3.5") and some scrap barrel lying around so I cut some discs. I'm now wondering the best way to assemble them. Here a...
