It does kinda scream "You look like the ringmaster at the lesbian mariachi circus" Landsknecht: Another example that Germans like to prove, absolutely, through overkill -- in this case, proving beyond any reasonable doubt that Clowns are Evil. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b251/dark_ny...

I have a foil (as well as my shlagers).
I enjoy it greatly.
Its very surgical.

But again, my point about expernal strife regarding SCA fencing is dwarfed by the internal strife.

We use a different blade too! It's heavier and stiffer that anything used in strip fencing. The basic body protection is not heavier that strip fencers wear. Since the target area is the whole body, back to front. my body protection is two layers of denim. Same as my strip fencing jacket. And don't...

Here's the thing. In rapier you aren't wearing a hard suit. You do have to maintain control and your natural reactions need to be trained to be measured. Wild man stuff won't cut it. It is more about letting angles ,deft movement and position do the work. These play in armoured combat but are even ...

One thing that I'd like to add... Few of us in the SCA (a higher % here on the AA likely) stepped on the field looking period. And most of my rapier friends that do both also say that. Its not that rapier *can't* be a real fight, but in many cases it is not *allowed* to be, or more the case, only certain individuals are allowed to actually make it a fight. I have heard this as well from long standing members of the Rapier ...
