No finger wagging, Gwen. I'm just trying to find a way to stop the chaus droop syndrome.

What do you want to say? Remember that what you are asking for is to be a vassal, and for him to be your lord, and that this feudal relationship means an exchange of services, between you. What are you willing to give, and what are you desirous of receiving? This will help to form your thoughts. Jeh...

Yeah, there you're tricking your mind to think that "ah, it's cooler, that's nice," since you take off that sweat shirt. Kasimir, squire of his excellency the Count Sarnac, I'm glad anything I said was any help. As Sonnon says in his essay about fighting through physical distress, a lot of times it'...

Totally agreed. I have stuff from HE, and I tell you, I plan on buying stuff from them in the future, also. Great stuff. I hope that their product line expands into the 14th century some more, which I think will happen. It's amazing how different, for example, it feels to fight in chausses and braie...

Well, yes and no. Most of the helmets I am interested in are in the $300 and up range, with the ones I am really liking being in the $500 and up range. But I have decided that I am a professional man at arms within the context of the SCA, and so I go for higher-level gear. However, you have a spun-t...

Kasimir, I'm not sure that I'm willing to go down the "mystical effects" road you're interested in, but if you do the things that give you 1% here, 2% there, and do them all, then you end up with maybe a 15% increase in ability to handle heat, which matters in the clutch, because you'll be fine when...

If I had it to do again, I would have had the extra cash to include a Master Knuut aventail with my Anshelm Arms bascinet last year.

Received it today. 7lbs 4oz. Dimensions were as advertised, but something about the picture made me think that it was longer and narrower, so it was a surprise when I opened it up. However, it is perfectly sized to compare favorably with effigy shields from the 14th century. Thanks for the offering,...

Energy management and mental response to physical distress is an important facet of being a good man at arms. You want to be careful about what it looks like to the other guy. I can move my legs up or down about two inches depending on how tightly I buckle the two straps coming from the leg to the belt. I make sure the knee cop is centered over my patella. Most guys are pretty careful about calling off anyt...

I have a high-point bascinet and klappvisor from Sir Luther of Anshelm Arms. m Top-notch. It was my first "pro-level" bit of armor. He had it done before it was due. The visor is a welded visor, which was a surprise, but for SCA armor this is useful considering the stresses involved, especially on t...

In SCA combat, I hold that the taller man at arms has an advantage, because the shorter, if they wish to attack, must either enter through the best range for the taller man at arms to strike, and ward it off and then attack, or must wait for the taller man at arms to become impatient and make a mist...

Here you go, a ready source for "rings" for SCA ring belts.
http://www.kingskeep.com/merchant2/merc ... ory_Code=4
This one, at $5/per, will accomodate the 1 and 1/2" belt (about a half inch wider than most belts in the medieval era) that is the fashion in the SCA.

The taller man has some natural advantage. The head is less accessible, especially defended behind a shield. His reach is the greater, and therefore the man at arms of less stature must ingress, through the place where the taller man at arms is best suited to strike, before making his own attack. Th...
