I agree, King Rene rocketh. ; ) It is quite astounding how the advice and the words of the old masters strikes the heart of the willing and receptive. They virtually tell you how exactly to do it . I have toyed with the idea of posting in ME on occasion. I did when I posted my entering into vassalag...

To the man at arms Geoffrey does Jehan de Pelham, squire of Sir Vitus, give greetings and hopes that all is well with you, and says further, I should be curious as to your thoughts on the matter, for you often seem to be in the posession of some erudition on many things. You need not remonstrate with fools, Eynar, for in the end, you will only waste your time, and they will hate you for it. I have an Arms and Armour Henry V, and I have shown it to many people, and to a one they are astounded at its litheness and balance. It is as light as any "speed stick" that anyo...

I don't wear my A-game accoutrements to my weekly practices. I wear a pair of Harley Davidson boker boots to those. I also wear jeans. But for deeds of arms, I have resolved to wear the turnshoes and chausses and braies. I'm not interested in wearing out my gear, because I am not as wealthy as even ...

Mine are like these that you describe, with the fabric high on the outside of the hip. I bought mine from Historic Enterprises, and they are sold as 14th century chausses. I have discovered no evidence to the contrary.

14th C. Cartels, Passports, Kings of Arms, and Marshals

I posted elsewhere a question about how best to issue my cartel and defiance to a certain fellow who had with tincture and paints picked out a cunning, but unmete ( ; ) ), likeness of His Highness Felix, Prince of the Midrealm. I realized that I had some small knowledge of how to proceed, and this e...

Turnshoes go under sabaton. Modern shoes are too bulky for sabaton to look correct, in my opinion.
