I wear no padding, but I use a body bracelet under my arming coat. I find that I tend not to be struck in the body as frequently as I once did.

When stout blows land upon the torso, they do sting.

Tents are easier to sell if they're set up, so that the buyer can examine it. But I understand. Good luck, Estrella is coming up quite soon.

I see. You're going there to pick up your new tent, which you'll then set up and take home with you, and unless you have a buyer you wouldn't bring it. Correct?

I am of the same mind as he: In the end, the man who cannot keep or preserve that which he obtained through his deeds must needs lose them to he who can. The first man at arms pledged his faith to be the prisoner of the second man at arms, under the condition that he protect him from harm. When the ...

Cool, man, you made some carbon steel out of mild steel! LOL.

Never let someone tell you buying something is better than making it, even if it is! I only buy stuff I can't make, or when I'm lazy. It's much better when I make it.

Plaque belts rock. I see one in my future, and a well adorned leather sword belt.

What do you mean by van-dyke-ing the "hemline?"

I think you mean "lengthen" the haubergeon, Ivo.

Hourglass gauntlets are also in the future, with the next harness.

You are all of course correct. The persona was born in 1350. I am 32, so: 1382. I am currently just about to place the first order with Jeff Hedgecock which will begin me down the path to the next iteration, which should be complete in early 2005. This last improvement should finally smite the clout...

I adore my high-top bascinet that Sir Luther made. He knew me not from Adam, and I desired greatly a new helmet for an event in October of last year. I asked him if he could make it in the time frame I needed, just before Pennsic, and he said that he could. I sent him a 50% deposit, and he delivered...

Indeed. Mine, chequy gules and argent, on a chief argent a broken lance, is both easy to paint, or embroider, or applique, and is highly recognizable. The simpler, more authentic charges, annulets, crosses, piles, weapons, etc, are great. The problem is that we have a great deal of blazons passed, a...

Excellent! One of the things I love about this community is the dedication to good looking armors of all varieties. I'm more a 14th century white armor guy, but when I see a good bit of armor from any period, I appreciate it.

I've always thought it would be quite excellent to have a padded coif with mail coif over it, then bascinet. But weight is an issue.

To doff one's helm and still be armored is hardcore.
