Your grace, I use .0625" thick 6-4 and CP4 titanium, and it is overly thick. It was difficult for me to work, though my tools and techniques are somewhat, shall we say, rustic and reliant on physical puissance, but the armor is consquently very strong. I do believe that you could use .050" thickness...

I bring a pair of wooden chairs and a Contico Black Box with my armor in it. It isn't a question of IF you're going to get hurt fighting, it's a question of "when" and "how bad."

Cote of Plates or Brigandine is probably the optimum application for streetsign aluminum. The plates will not crack--streetsign aluminum is plenty tough enough for this use. I needed a red belt. I sent a detailed project submission a while ago to a girdler, who hasn't gotten back to me. I emailed Frank on Sunday with a request for a red ring belt, required before an event this Saturday--turnaround time less than a week. I received a red squire belt, which looks just lik...

Indeed, war can be an overload to the senses of a newer fighter. The primary thing I found required to be overcome was a...

From my point of view, it is harder to make swords with rat-tail tangs, which is basically welding a peice of threaded rod stock onto the end of the blade, than constructing the sword with a full tang. But somehow, doing it that way is a common "industry standard" for decorative swords. You might be...

I have said it before and I will say it again: Armor has a mystical quality about it, to my somewhat simple mind. It is not a T-shirt or a pair of slacks. There is karma involved. Having made armor, I know that an armorer puts part of himself into the work. Maybe it is less so for those who have don...

I must add that I find the klappvisor problematic for extended fighting, due to the CO2 buildup. I also have an interchangable grill.

But the look of the klappvisor is infinitely superior.

The scales will have different finishes. 6-4 polishes to a mirror, but I have only been able to achieve a satin finish on CP4 and CP1.

I believe at the size of scales, the material will be fine. I have not done this before, so I cannot say for sure.
