Combat archery is a fact of SCA life. What cannot be done away with must be endured.Much as I despise snipers and artillerists, I personally trust the people who run CA in AEthelmearc implicitly. They are sensible folk and not prone to wibble-headedness in the least. I don't like CA but who cares wh...

Commonly I use infantry tactics that were used from classical greece to the civil war.(Marshall Rommel's book on tactics and "Da Re Tactica" for favorites) It lends an advantage to a fighting group whose opponent does not have that knowledge. We also tend to use football plays like reverses and trap...

I will second the advice of both Sir Mordreth and Uilleag. Their suggestions are exactly what I would've recommended. I would only add that if you have a dehumidifier or fan You could hang the armor in front of same in order to facilitate even airflow and drying over the whole suit. Uilleag's dressi...

I make cuir bouilli or boiled leather armor as well and brittleness is not a problem if the armor is done right. Primarily you have to deal with the name, which is a misnomer. You do not actually boil the leather. Heat the bees wax in a 3-to-1 ratio with mineral oil or linseed oil. Heat it in a good...
