What is the equivalent thickness of 16 gauge mild steel in spring steel? By equivalent I mean, in protection and resistance to denting. I am working on building a late 13th century Wisby coat of plates and a 15th century brigandine, for rebated steel combat.

This is my first post on this board. I have been making round riveted 16 gauge maille, for awhile. As I would like to enter some of my maille as an Arts & Science entry, can anyone suggest some articles or resources showing primary documentation for round riveted maille?
