Maybe, a big MAYBE it is a stripped gambeson but to me it seems much more likely that it was just artistic license on the part of the ladies that created the tapestry. "We have these two types of thread....hey, I know!!"

WTB: Vinyl 20 x 20 tent

Anyone have a source for used vinyl tents? I'm looking for a new dinning tent for Pennsic 40.

Thanks!

I was honored to receive the ransom of the noble Ambrose St. John in the 30. As I was never taken I paid the men that helped me arm for their service to me with a few of the coins from my Knights Fee.

I found the new woods challanging and fun, and not at all as dangerous as we were lead to believe (that being said I realize I only saw a small portion of it.) The fallen logs and rabbit holes made fighting spear rather difficult but that sorta added to the fun of it for me. Fighting on the roads wa...

Forget the weapon's questions, saw it on page one. I'll most likely be fighting with an axe or boar spear anyway. With the Normans, of course! And while my padded gambeson would work just fine, I vow not to fight in this battle unless I am wearing chain, and I encourage others to make the same vow. ...

Is my helm 'too 12c' for this battle? m I see that as a fluted forward-point conical with a nasal. A friend recently emailed me documentation of forward-point conicals to the period, so I don't see any issues with this - Sir Graedwyn? PS: I have no issues with haybale backup weapons... Except for Pennsic specific conventions (like the "no laminated weapons" rule of this year) weapons must meet the standards of the Middle or East Kingdoms. The By My Hand heads pass without padding now in the East, so you're OK. Sadly there is (to my knowledge) in the Eastern Rules that s...

Some Kingdoms require it, some don't. Check with your KEM. Until last year, I sold out of their booth at Pennsic. We had different KEM's in at different times and got both yes and no answers. Yes, I've checked with my KEM and King on it, but Pennsic doesn't operate under Atlantian weapons rules, bu...

Pennsic: Polearm Construction Question

I have a By My Hand polearm form that I am using for a new polearm for Pennsic.

My question is, do I have to add some foam to it to get the .5" compression?

I certainly don't want to but I'm curious what answers you guys will give.
