Master Eldred has this awesome round pin design that pops up and out when the visor is raised to keep it in place. On the other hand, I know a fellow that has a similar, not as well made design that kept popping open on him last tourney season...

Plateau, while they can be a pain in the ass, are a normal and needed part of the learning process. Plateau are where the subconcious learning takes place and as frustrating as they are, they are really, really important. Yes, you will constantly being going through them. The solution? Practice, pra...

Thanks so much for shareing these pics, someday I would like to travel to these events with a video cam. Oh yeah and whoever that is with the big bruse... Excellent point about mediveal hair length, T-Bob! Mine is still too long, but it's important to remember that we have to stay away from the trap of putting modern ideals on mediveal concepts. At our largest Templar event, some of the serjant brothers(who had boned up on them for this purpose) delig...

Also, the brothers should always go in twos...

There are ways to play all of these rules for fun in the SCA but you need a group of people that are into it and the right sort of event. I never do Templar stuff at tournies since they wouldn't compete there. But melee events? Sure....

Sounds like your doctor is dead on. Ice, rest, alleve (longer lasting than Ibu) and then stretching. Get a Dyna-band and do some stretching exercises each day. Go get PT if it gets bad enough.

The SCA isn't reinactment. It's a medival themed group with wildly varying standards for authencity. If you are looking for consistancy, look somewhere else. Portraying a Templar or any Military Order member in the SCA, i've found to be extremly difficult for a number of reasons. I've yet to see it ...

Crow lived here for a hot minute with his Knight, the current King of Northshield. Good fighter, sorta standoffish guy in the Punk way, like many Chuxs I know. (and Vitus!) but I don't know if he was a Tuchux. His armour certainly made him look like one.

Yeah, usually they are being used on foot, so you can make the assumption that footman = sergeant and horseman = knight.

The surcoat I am wearing these days is a footman's garment tho...it looks way cooler than the plan surcoats of the mounted horsemen and DUH! i'm fighting on foot!

I have no idea who you are training with so I can't make any suggestions, but at least you realize that you are new to this particular sport. I'm sure you will find a way to adapt. But I really don't see what 'honor' has to do with shot placement in your examples.
