All the stuff is ready, it's a question of what Ivan does. I plan on going out saturday evening and looking at the field to check out footing (if we get the rain we are supose to.) I am, of course, all about folks coming to this event, but I want people to be smart and safe first. I will try and pos...

Before the 12c tournement proper, the knights bacholar would ride against each other in single comnat, feats of arms, if you will. I believe there is a passage in the Historie disparging of this activity because there were no gain in it. A game for the young... (Btw, T-BoB I disagree that a Norman w...

Mandrake Mace Head

I know there was a thread on this but I can't find it.... I picked up one of the Mandrake Armoury mace heads at Pennsic. My question is, how do you attach it and not screw up it's appearance? I figure I will pick a larger piece of rattan squeeze it on and I figure I will use spray glue...Any other s...

For my Laurel Vigil in '99 Master Niall Dolphin made torches (these are illegal at Pennsic btw...for good reason!) out of dowels that were wrapped with tee shirt material and then dipped in parafin wax over and over. They looked amazing and worked really well. Too well in fact. Two of the brother Te...

Please don't think you have to have a completely period rig or a late period persona to fight in this. It's not that kind thing, tho of course, Atlantian Appearance Standards are in place. (guests or new folks to the kingdom are exempt - tho it would be REALLY nice not to see exposed plastic!!!)

We did the first one of these about a week after 9/11 with a tiny number of fighters (5 I think) we raised over $100. The way it works is that all Challengers contribute $5 which gets them five fights. Each time they win a fight, they get another fight. If they run out, they can donate more $ for mo...

Yah Irish. Thing is, Tuchux is a living organism. It grows and changes according to the input of those of us that contribute. In the 20 odd years I've been here I've seen massive changes in both us and the SCA. It always catches me funny when I hear the really odd stories though. Of course, you hav...

What JP said. I doubt you will be able to get a variety of blows with enough force to be good, but hey go for it! My general advice for you is to watch the best fighters in your Kingdom.
