Fought pickups with the polypro sword this weekend, as did Duke Ragnarr. No complaints that I am aware of. All my oppenants didn't comment on it being all that weird and a couple of them really liked it. You have to like heavier swords, that is the key. Will this replace rattan? Nope. But for practi...

If we are forced to wear more armour, that is a GOOD thing. I will say it leaves intersting bruises on bare flesh, but then again so does rattan. One odd thing I noticed was that at one point Corby took my arm. The shot traveled down the surface of the inside of my vambrace and all the way under my...

BRYCE, YOUR NEW SHIELD IS BEAUTIFUL. Knightly done. You have won honor. Thank you, V but this is the shield I made back in May when we stepped down as baronage. If you saw it upclose you know it is in tatters. In fact I need to do some repair work (ducttape) to hold it together for a tourney I am f...

I don't know if you have to be on Facebook to be able to see these or not, but Iain shot four videos of Corby and I doing pickups at the end of the day at a Demo last week. We are both using Polypro swords. Nothing too exciting going on here...while we haven't fought in a couple of years, we fought ...

The problem with public practices (in my opinion) is the lack of light. When you have it at a home, you can put up lights so people can see. I have lights up in my backyard, but I also bring light out to our public practice (when we aren't fighting inside....) It takes effort. It's good for me thou...

Re: to do: video
I've got access to some good video cameras and editing software. I shall put together some slow motion video of the poly swords and several sample rattan swords hitting various things. Including people. I think the surprise most people will find when looking at this video is how much rattan flexes....

I am going to have to relinquish dibs, I think it is just shy of working for me. I can wear an XXL, but tshirts stretch a little better than mail and the 3XL is a much more comfortable fit. Suit yourself I think I have another buyer. I will say that I wore this comfortably at 285 with body armour u...

What is the circumference of the shirt at the bottom? Could you post pics without anything covering it? ...

For Sale: Azon stainless light chain maille half shirt
I have for sale a Azon stainless butcher's maille half shirt. Weighting in at about 2-4 pounds this stainless, welded small ring mail is perfect for dress occasions, larpers, or to dress up an sca kit. (it works well under a surcoat because the mail looks like you are wearing a hauberk without the w...

Re: No video
I didn't get any video, but lots of stills. The best of them are here . Note the tape that shows you which swords are poly. Though the tape on my sword is old and worn. I fought with a poly sword all day. Iain got video of our poly on poly fight at the end of the day. As soon as he posts it I will ...

Fought with and against these weapons this weekend and loved it. No issues. The only thing odd I noticed was that some of the hardest blows I threw tended to make the sword 'whip' or 'bounce' a bit more. And, as Amos and I had noticed before these swords tend to hit a bit lighter on 'soft' armour su...

I've done the same thing Gunther from about May/June on. I too am really enjoying the (slightly) smaller shield though I too am losing many more fights and I've noticed similiar changes in my sword blocking, movement, etc. I find that I need a much deeper stance and have to be much more mobile. I _h...
