I'm finished!!

I have finally finished my translation of the Life and Exploits of Master Gustav Von Shnicktengruben!!!
It was a very hard job, but somebody had to do it. This will be absolutely invaluable to those people who are interested in the evolution of the Western Martial Arts.

Asbjorn, remember that if there are not enough teams present that it will be a four hour William Marshall tourney. Either way it will be ruthless.

If you have a paid SCA membership then you belong to the SCA. Before I close my thread (due to the fact that the original point has been overtaken), I just want to say that I have never pushed for the total disappearance of combat archery within SCA "wars". I think that a person has every right to e...

A pike is longer than a lance. 9-12 feet is a good size for jousting, no? Froissart uses the terms "spear" and "lance" interchangably.

Is there ANY situation where.. II

Each Estrella War, we see and comment on the different individuals whose arm...

By all means snatch it away if you can. All I am saying is that bending a spear over something, stepping on it or not putting the stolen spears in a pile where they can be easily retrieved is asinine, a-holish behavior.

Okay, this large spreadsheet of opinions on matters such as these is an example of why the large wars like Estrella and Pennsic can be such a nightmare. If a man drops his spear and it is within my power to give it back to him, I will measure his quality before I proceed. If he is a particularly dan...

After I handled spring steel I completely changed my tune about completely hidden plastic armour. There is a certain body-shape that I want under my ledner, and only a breastplate will fit the bill. When I can afford spring steel I will retire my plastic breastplate. I will never wear anything but a...

Summer's End Tourney

To all who labor at arms across the known world comes this missive from Vitus Von Atzinger, strenuous knight and student of all things noble and good. May God preserve all good vassals who read this letter, written this first day of August in the year of our Lord thirteen hundred and eighty nine. It...

DVA guy- Every year I sit across from your booth in Midrealm Royal and I watch you. Spear stealing & breaking.

I don't know about you, but when a guy drops his spear in a battle, I usually let him pick it back up. I would never steal a spear from a guy because he might not get it back, but I don't look down on guys who snatch them. But if you were one of the people who were trying to break spears by bending ...
