Okay, I am gonna give it to you 100% straight. Alan's life began to unravel about four years ago, when he had two live-in assistants. One had claimed that he wanted to be a real student of the craft, and I guess this guy believed that for a few months. This trainee had a wife, and she was a flake. I...

Sincere Apologies

Guys, I am sorry if I have seemed pushy on the boards lately. Please accept my most sincere apology.
I have too much going on, and I have been spending too much time ranting here....

There shouldn't be any need to "work anything off". It's impossible to "work off" a belief system anyway.

There are basically two schools of thought about calling blows across the Known World. 1. If you have to think about it, go ahead and take it. 2. If you have to think about, it ain't no good. These two schools of thought can produce completely different results. Now, mix in the Third School and thin...

This is all very simple to understand. Both the Belted and Unbelted Champions battles are filled with amped-up people. In the last Unbelt battle that I was in, I bonked a guy over and over to no effect, and then the same dude used a baseball-bat style swing on my leg with a polearm. He was amped-up ...

Those crazy rectangle shields in Aethelmearc...I would love to use one but I can't document it. I think that my stumpy little body would be nearly impossible to hit with one of those things.

"Order him to fight only Light in wars..." Nobody should make Rhys do a damn thing. Hey, why don't we make all of the people who *only* shoot combat archery go fight poleaxe against two or three burly Dukes? In Rhys' opinion, the fact that people can stand back forty feet and easily remove me from a...

I was the man that Count Rhys of Harlech was fighting when this incident took place. It was just another example of how large Wars become the stage for battles of Belief. The whole thing filled me with many emotional contradictions. I felt bad for the archers that Rhys threatened to kill if they dar...

The reason that I feel this way is because I don't know what to say to our own Unbelts, who really do not want Pennsic to become the entire focus of their SCA lives. The regular populace is confused as well about what is going on out there. Pennsic seems to have a life of it's own. When I fight my E...

Bob, this is a good question. I would have to say that the writings of de Charney changed my life completely. I never knew how to be free of the burdens of my own desires (as far as knightly pursuits go) until de Charney showed me how to be free of them. Make the desires and goals of the Crown your ...
