We are concentrated in the US. Pittsburgh mostlyh, neighboring states a little. We have a few far flung members, but nothing overseas. It's a real face to face thing though, so youd have to be here to experience it. Writing about it sorta falls short. WAY short.

Re: Question about the Tuchux (Animal et al, I mean you)

I'm looking for some factual information regarding the Tuchux - as I know there are at least three of them here in the Archive." Yah, we're like termites. We get in everywhere "Before you ask: yes, I have visited tuchux.org but even though the music is nice, there is little info in that page. Oh wel...

Grettir chipped a bone in my neck with an axe at a cave event a long time ago. Came up behind me in a warlord fight and drilled me twice in the back of the head. I was out on my feet. Oh, but did he pay for that one later! heheh

"but in reality animal it is more because of ignorance and far too much tolerance." one thing I've noticed that really stands out harshly in the SCA is the very real separation between the chivalry types ( defined as either knights or on their way) and the rest of the fighters. The tolerance part is...

See, change never comes easy. It's always met with resistance especially by those that perceive themselves as at an advantage under the current and at a disadvantage if it were to change. Again, the SCA is a living thing and as such constantly evolving. Even if the written does not change in practis...

The thing that I notice here whenever someone trots out the 'bylaws' to hide behind when it comes to medieval europe/anywhere else is that these bylaws were written how long ago? From what I've read here the original people that wrote those laws were knights, ladies and Tolkein elves. Somewhat of a ...

I also reccomend 'photobucket.com'. If you put your photo on there you can simply cut and past the 'img' url they give you on the archive and it will put your picture there. So simple even I can do it.

Yes they did. Rather well in fact. In fact Russia ( which by the way, spans TWO continents, both Asia AND Europe) had a period of a few hundred years they called the Mongol Yoke. Alexander Nevsky and all that. They conquered the largest land mass empire ever and they were primarily archers. I'd like...

Yah, that's what I find to be so ironic in this case. It seems that it's mostly the knightly types that have the biggest problem with CA yet not a word about a 'rock' that kills no matter where it hits on your body, thrown by a TOTAL non-combattant from out of bounds. Yet thread after threat about a...

Yup. Taken from the 'peasant' battle at Pennsic. There goes the whole 'we're all nobility and no one would be otherwise thing. Probably because of axes, maces, lances and the understanding of glancing surfaces and the like. However arrows were definitely a factor in the rise of plate.

(Rattan Fighting) Taking that step

This is a question I would like to pose to those of you that have excelled at fighting. Can the false modesty, you know who you are. At what point did you seperate yourself from the pack? What did you do to elevate your fighting to the realm of the dukes and counts and the like? Was it a conscious d...
