Re: Fantasy Melee Time...
Hey, thanks for the vote of confidence. Some of those guys I don't really know. Aveloc is a no-brainer first pick. I'd include Baldar, even if he is a bit rusty Aleaghenononionan (From Meridies) (actually there's probably other Meridians, too but I couldn't say for sure which ones. They've always ha...

I was mildly impressed with it. It could have been worse I suppose. The TKD guy really upset me however. The twirling made me sick. I truely hate when a weapon falls into the hands of someone who doesnt know how to use it. Then of course he went wild on the ballistics gel with it like some insane s...

I've come to love various center grip "heateresque" shields. I sold one to Cuan last year and I'm hoping he's usd it since. If so then you can see what I mean. I've taken to shields with keels rather than bosses largely because they go better with my armour. Also the keel is very useful for control....

Gaston Tidbits from the East Kingdom Mailing List: "The our new Prince and Priness of the East are: Lucan and Jana" "I believe the final four were Kelson, Griffin, Thorson and Lucan" I just got off the phone with an archiver that attended, I hope he'll post better details. ...

Well met, cousin! It's a surprise to meet people who have any idea what kyokushin is, but a good surprise. Had my cheekbone cracked in my green belt test, had to fight two more rounds afterward. I kept fighting because I didn't know any better. But it everything was okay in the end. What were you a...

I have made a lot of "odd" center-grip shields. I say "odd" in parentheses because these shapes are not odd at all to historians or medieval people, just odd to SCA folks. I designed and helped build the centergrip heater belonging to Richard le Wulf which Duke Llewellan was seen using. I've built t...

Yes, but which one The Baldar Blunts are quicker, easier, and require less maintenance. They are also a bit heavier and more aerodynamic. The actual range difference will vary depending on the bow and arrow of bolt length. Also the UHMW blunts vary quite a bit depending on the skill and patience of ...

Yeah, I've even seen a 1360's illumination of what looks just like the big Asgardian V shields.... even the size. I don't like "2" because it looks too much like someone trying to maximize square inches with a shield size rule. "11" is sexier than "3". I find that sexy makes for a really good defens...

Since this thread has largely become one of sharing tourney ideas, I'd like to share what we did for Panhandle this year... The problem here is that "realism" and "authenticity" do not mix well with "fighting from his knees". Pretty much as soon as you start fighting from your knees to simulate a leg injury you have to give up on any hint of "realism" If an MD/Marshal wants to make rules that are less jarring to his medi...

Once upon a time, the , now sadly defunkt, Wednesday night practice in West Covina was the Caidan knight & royal peer factory. Ansteorra Duke Alaric Drake You know I rarely see him at the top of lists made by Ansteorrans but I reallly think that a true student of the game HAS to put him up there. I would concur that the Middle is, as you say, near the middle. It's a big kingdom so there is bound to be variation but overall it seems rare to find a midrealmer on either extreme of the spectrum.
