You should stay in the 15th C. It's a wonderful place to be.

That doesn't look like a regular cross lacing. Look how the lines don't stay straight where they cross - as if they interact at the intersection. Maybe a little twist right there?

Edward, Why do you want to point the gambeson through the maille ??? I'm not exactly tracking with what you're trying to accomplish. I point to the gambeson to hold the arms up so they don't slip down as my arms move. Works pretty well actually! I still want to point to the gambeson when there's Ma...

I'd like to know more about the trestles for the butler's table. How do the legs fit in and how stable is it? Do the legs just wedge in the slot or is there more? Is there a write up on it? Really, you guys look great! Can't decide if I want to sew or cut wood next! Our butler has admitted to makin...

heres my pics, james fix em up nice There's something a little odd about this picture , though; not so much about the fellow lying on the ground, but on the child's legs and feet, which seem to be suspended in midair above him ... That's not a kid - it's one of the LaBelle guys peeing in the woods....

Conor -- I'd like to offer a thought. The very title of this thread is a concept we often see: "Authenticity vs. fun". I maintain that's a FALSE analogy. Authenticity and Fun aren't even on the same bar. It's "Authenticity vs. Inauthenticy" and "Fun vs. No fun." You can be authentic and have fun, a...

Up until last year I would have been "on the fence" at least if not in the "authenticity aint fun" crowd. I took a little hiatus for about a year and I have had time to reflect. I started to put together my hard and soft kits that I have always wanted to try. I have had more fun researching and fin...

The debate that resulted for ten minutes pretty much ended with the other person telling Kass that regardless of what she said he thought it wa...

And actually, I figured the distaff contingent (since they're dressed simply, seemingly of lower status than the menfolk) were intended to be mistresses, laundresses, cooks, scullery-maids, or prostitutes ... and since they don't appear to wear aprons, one assumes that perhaps you ladies weren't em...

Damn I was unsure on the helm but I thought that Jeff’s glaive , It just goes to show we can equip lots of people who come out. For us Jeff has lots of pollarms and helms. How about stuff for a guy who's 6'4", and 250? Or would I have to sew something quick for him? Hmmm... my husband in ful...

I've been thinking on the whole issue of "Eastern Influence". How many guys who went to the gulf came back dressed like an Arab?. Even WITHOUT the issue of uniforms aside, how many people in ANY era adopt anything of local dress? OK, some might temporarily adopt an item or two while there, especiall...

Our combat ( whilst controlled blow for the most part), is reasonably fast, with a hit system that means one killing blow will kill and occasionally interesting variations - like my favourite - Guys in plate-armour can't be killed standing but must be on the floor - best way someone could find at a...

I wanted into authenticity at my first renfair. I'd just moved to the DC area, went to the MD Renfair and saw all of the people in floppy hats wandering around speaking with bad accents, saying "What-ho" and calling everyone "Milord" and "Milady". Even though I wasn't a huge history buff, I did like...

In the past Jeff J. and WolfsCo have done waster combat in harness, and the only equipment that got dented was Jeff's old musereps helm he was wearing instead of his Armet, and I believe WolfsCo's waster did break on that blow and that was the last time they did that. Yeah, but I punched him in the...

Sorry for the delayed response - I've been out of town all week. I've mothballed that arming doublet and am currently wearing a second, blue interim one with some improvements. It's still not where I want to be, but it's better. The red doublet's flaws are: - Too much padding. Under plate, you only ...
