To abuse a safetey rule, just to get yourself out of an awkward situtuation just seems like a cheap cop-out. Its using the system to do better in a fight, rather than learning how to do better by being a better fighter.

Good answer!

Simple. Let go of it. Under SCA tourney rules, he has to give it back to you. There is a discussion going on about that right now on the Squire's Yahoo group. I think letting go of your trapped weapon during a tourney just to stop the fight and recover from a bad situation is kinda cheezy. Why? You...

We are working out the bugs on liners for a few helms. I'd like to know how the wool holds up vs the cotton batting.

**snip** To answer your question, laced articulation *is* ineffective, it is little better than pop riviting with a half decent burr. and yes, it is a bit of a weight issue, as a propperly mounted elbow or knee cop made out of aluminum or steel will not flop around to the same degree. lacing in art...

anything that bends is at risk, attack the inside if the bend (armpit, inside thigh/groin, inside of the elbow, the whole damn neck). The head is really hard, nature saw to that, the eyes aren't... if it's mushy, it's easy to break. Hit there.

spagen top with a face plate

The entire kit was based around the helmet (Adam Berry WMA - inspired by the art on the cover of one of the Osprey Norman books) which according to the text in the Osprey book is inspired to be around 1250. I've never found a period example of a spagen top with a face plate of this nature, they are...

What it all comes down to is the great quote from above "Sword hits helm your dead" Wilhelm If the SCA were just a fight club, then you sure would be right, but it is more than just that. This is where many people, like Animal and others, who even though they have been around the SCA for 20+ years,...
