how does this work with a gut? I've tried hanging the legs from my arming coat and the best I can get is my leg harness hanging away from my legs. I adjusted the straps on the backs on the legs and it pulled weird.

i use the small Kong, i drilled 4 holes in it to aid in compression, and added 2 ribs of foam. I love it, mace is my primary weapon. I didn't drill the holes or add the foam, that sounds like it works well...time to rework the maces. Adam, those shields are great!! I wouldnt want to get something t...

you'll find yourself looking totally different in a year. And that is why I went with DV it got me on the field it allowed me to make my own helm while I was waiting for it to come in. I also didn't know what persona I was interested in so for a couple hundred bucks I got to try it out.... If I did...

Irish,

Your right plastic should be covered in order to conform with the rules, the folks that I know that use the DVA cover it with tunics and pants, interestingly enough the gorget is usually the 1st thing replaced because it's the hardest to hide (but we still have them in the loaner bag.)

Lobo I'm glad to here that the DVA is still working for you! While I wouldn't wear it, I have several friends who do and have used their stuff with a lot of success. What I have seen is that some folks stick with it(SCA Combat) and move on to more fitted stuff others just keep useing DVA and some ju...

My reasoning: 1) Sabatons are a pain in the ass and I would like to be able to armor any legal target area if I so choose. 2) I think it would discourage period footwear 3) I don't want my foot being smashed into the ground 4) Foot is too close to ankle Just my opinions. 1) Your telling me! I've be...

I'm all for testing "Full Leg targeting", I think requireing greaves would taint the test. I think the only way we will see if we NEED them is to allow testing with or without them, then people can decide for themselves. I have a set of front only greaves, I'd be willing to fight w/o them for the te...

As a marshall in the SCA, I would have to be against this with great weapons, single weapons ok, great weapons can generate too much force, and if your foot is planted, there goes your knee, or break your shin bone. make this a standard rule tho, a legal target area for single hand weapons only, no...

A question for those who'a systems allow full leg targets:
Do you have a lot of folks taking 'dasie-cutter' shots? (two-handed swingss at the ankle/calf area) I was once told that was the shot that took the full leg away from the SCA.

I don't know if I like the idea of GRABBING the shield this could lead to grappeling really quick in that not everyone can just slip out of their shield if they can't follow the movement but I can't see why we shouldn't be allowed to move the shield with an elbow or knee or the back of the hand.

The "just take turns" thing works fairly well, (more or less, kinda sorta). We haven't had much trouble with it at practice. Double elim tournaments aren't a lot worse, since the chances of you actually haven't to fight at the same time are pretty low, and usually you can impose on a friend, househ...

If money is such an issue for you that you can't afford a decent-looking kit, then you need to reconsider your priorities in life. Get things in order, save a little money, and buy good stuff. Be patient. Don't be in such a rush to get on the field that you wind up looking like crap, and never both...

Mr Orc The SCA is not a fantasy group, with the exception of Pennsic you don't see elves, orcs, or vampires in the SCA. In this part of the USA there is a LOTRs LARP that has been going on for many many years and we have had new comers to the SCA that wanted LOTRs we sent over to the LARP group. Th...
