As James said, the event standards are basic. These are not the same standards as Grey’s, as a group, has. The purpose of this is to let first timers kit up more easily to join us. Lesser equipped folks will be members of the shire levy, called up by the commission. People will be archers or men a...

For a little context - this is a 15th century living history event. The event is private, meaning that we will not be interpreting to the public. This is a fantastic first event for people interested in reenacting. Clothing standards are not all that stringent. Come play with us!

First I went with what made me look teh hawtest. Then I switched to what Jeff had armour for that made him look teh hawtest. Sometimes I wish we did American Colonial, just because that’s what’s HERE. But when I started, I lived in Minnesota, and that wouldn’t have really existed there either....

Do this hat: m In other sources, Woven Into the Earth, I think, it mentions that the hat was thought to be fur-lined. The originals were children's size hats, so don't copy the measurements exactly if it's for you. If you have enough for a hood, though, that's fantastic. Otherwise, you can use it to...

My crappy old hose are falling apart and I need to make some new ones. Anyone have any good sources for wool for making hosen? Or, you just leave it the way it is. It's a group with a medievalish focus, but other people come play too. If you have no focus, then what exactly are we? It's not as if "Medievalish" is narrow. You might even end up in conversations where people aren't expected to wear garb to events. Um...

Ugh, I hate the saggy sides on the Tentsmiths tent. I understand that they're going for the steep roof look, but I think it just needs to have longer poles, not saggy sides. This timmyt one looks like it sags a tad in the center, though. I think it could benefit from a ridgepole at the top. Jeff and...

I would start with a layer or two of a plain kirtle or dress. It can have a waist seam or no waist seam. At least one of the layers should have long sleeves. Wear it over a body skimming linen smock, that can be made with the other pattern, just a tad looser, or using rectangular construction. If yo...

2) I think Elspeth Veale's book goes into some detail about the method, but I don't recall. Indeed, it does. To sum up, the fur itself was attached to an interlining of, if I'm remembering correctly, canvas, and then the interlining was attached to the garment. The fur and the interlining would be ...
