Actually, I used to know the answer to some of your question. Darned if I can remember. Helpful, ain't I?

I've started yet another thread to allow the side discussion to continue without taking from the original topic.

I hope I got the link right this time. I tested it and everything.

What can steel cut?
From http://forums.armourarchive.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=44765&start=35 I'd like to start a new thread on this, so as to not continue to derail Gethin's challenge. I also do NOT want this to turn into an SCA vs. LH fight. PLEASE. I play both, I love both, and want everybody to be happy together. ...

Pastonpalooza IV
Hi folks! Save the weekend of October 15th on your calendars, as that's the weekend that we're reserving for PP IV (WOTR LH event extraordinaire, for the uninitiated). We're moving it up a month from November, as we don't want to freeze this year (though with October, there's the possibility for any...

My comment was just a silly joke about the sharpness of Jeff's real steel sword. It would be idiotic for anybody, no matter how skilled, to go up against that thing. Rattan bruises (and can kill the improperly armed, sure). The lucky shot with that steel can roll a head or cut off a foot. Hopefully...

Juliana, This really doesn't have to do with any challenge towards Jeff. The situation was explained, he said "I see", somebody didn't believe him, he said "I see" with great hyperboly and smilies, and then somebody called him an ass. Why on earth would he bother fighting SCA-style, and why on earth...

for example, where I to challenge you Jeff it would be gauch as im a Knight and your not... But where you to insult me in some manner and offer no apology to redress your words then Im fully inclined to find you and beat you soundly.. its a really simple system ... and it works quite well within th...

Re: Not exactly medieval - Thirty Years War question
Hi all! I'm passing this question along on behalf of a friend... >I am working on a war game based on the first battle of the Thirty Years War: The Battle of White Mountain, or Bila Hora. I have been able to find jack on the internet, so I was hoping that some of your historian friends could help. ...

You appear to developing a rather strong anti-SCA bias in your more recent posts. If both of these gentlemen are in the SCA, then what difference does it make to you how they go about their business? Who, Jeff? What posts, because I didn't see anything anti-SCA in the one you quoted. Heavens, I've ...

I understand the point of splashing out on quality over quantity.. I am just saying at this moment we dont have extra money.. So it would be get cheap fabric now,or not at all.. No offense meant ma'am but 1.50 extra per yard is a big deal.. My wife and I dont have a lot of money left over to spend..So we cut corners where we can.. China silk is very thin, and for SCA combat, may be easily destroyed. If you spend 1.50/yard on 3 yards more, you'll spend 4.50 more on the whol...

I guess what I am saying is where do you draw the line? Authentic looking or authentically built? Are you insinuating that goats aren't period? I'd say it depends what your goals are. If you want to have an educational experience building your hovels, then build them using period techniques. You co...

Al Johnsons! I love Al Johnsons. Their swedish pancakes are da bomb. I grew up going there - I didn't know it was called "Al Johnsons". I thought it was called "Mommy, can we go see the goats on the roof?" Jeff hasn't been there. Heathen. And he calls himself a Wisconsinite. Edited to add: I did *no...

Yes, i guess Medieval mobile homes are a bit of a stretch LOL...The only bad thing about the concept is everyone would have to come to you! The only person I've ever seen that has been even half way convincing in an upperclass role is Jeff Hedgecock. And some people are probably thinking that its because he has nice clothes and armour. The trick is finding a scenario that will account for women, gentlewomen, AND tents. Tents are easy, that would be a military campaign. Women are easy, that would be some sort of civilian activity, moving the household from home to home, tournament, etc., but my understanding is that generally they ...

Hear, hear! My current involvement in historical stuff consists of research, fabrication, maintenance, and behind the scenes dressing and groom work. I'm not going to agonize over it or let it ruin my life, but it would be fun if there was an appropriate way for me dress up and play too. Gwen We ju...
