Pics. Seriously.

I'd love to see some pics of these being worn and different angles holding rattan.

What ga steel are they made of?

Probably Firedryke Steel

That is Sir Waldryke's armoury. He lives in Calontir.
Nakos here on the AA is affiliated with Firedryke.

Re: SCA unintended passive defense

I was really just wondering how many folks would be mad if a guy didn't register a blow that hit his sword compared to how many folks would just blow it off because it simply makes sense. It's normally pretty easy to tell the difference between someone making an effort to game the system and circum...

Re: SCA unintended passive defense

I think that rule should be reviewed. In reality it wouldn't be a good blow if it did not strike the leg directly. It makes sense to me that a fighter SHOULD be wearing a sword in battle and that it just would interfere with the effectiveness of the blow if it struck the sword. As Nissan once so el...

Honestly Grimbrah, if someone can not save up the money to purchase a $700 piece of equipment, then they probably should not be spending that amount of money on something like that. As WMA said, how is stuffing cash in a jar for a few months different than making payments to a vendor for a few month...

I"ve been in his tents before. He sets up at Lilies. They seem to be VERY well made. Definately high quality Living History stuff.
Of course that kind of quality commands that kind of price too.

I REALLY dig the face sans stashe with the Hat. VERY cool and period-esque.
The glasses and mustache just seem out of place. Probably because I have not been able to find any documentation on real hair mustaches used on armour.

There is a nice stainless kettle hat for sale in the Classifieds section right now. It's more than your budget, but it is a Big helm like you need, a kettle hat, stainless, and basically brand new with a removable grill.

...The post was more pointing out that if the rules call for one thing, then we shouldn't be allowed to wear a Juggernaut suit and calibrate as such. Also, if ego armor and too thick armor are creating issues, then the community should figure out ways to deal with it rather than make jokes and igno...

The bargrill is removable. Not the backplate. But, the leather drape hides the backplate from view. So, after removing the grill it could be used as a dress helm.

Can you make the gauntlets a bit deeper? Ie, make the sides extend a bit further down? Not necassarily ground out on the Rattan, but for someone who wanted to wear a bit more padding?

Basically yes. Primer color will depend on if you plan on painting a light color or not. If you plan on using a light color or white, then us white or as light a primer as you can. For darker colors you can use darker primers. Clearcoat: http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=164 HOWEVER, if yo...

In my thinking, whe you get hit with a shot, and have to think about it, the thought that probably goes through your head wa along the lines of : "That might have been hard enough." I mean if there was no chance it was good, would you even think about it? . My ONLY quibble with that line of thinkin...

IIRC that helm on the Aesir site has been customized. Zwiehammer did not offer a Fluer De Lis cross on that helm, nor did it come with rectangular holes as an option. I can't remember if the scalloped edges on the dome plate were an option, but I don't think so. The knutt welded aventail is $200 jus...

It's a game of ratios. If you are a fighter and every once in a while you get "the talk" then maybe the shot was good or maybe not. If you are a fighter and you get "the talk" on a semi to regular basis then maybe it is not the person talking that has a the problem. It is just as much my responsibil...

Awesome concept. With that knuckle guard, do you need the bars between the pommel and throat ring? I would think eliminating them would allow the tang to flex a bit more. I think you may be right. Speaking from experience. I have one of the "english" hilts from Darkwood. It has a bar running from t...

Those Sallets are not SCA legal. They may be made of thick enough steel, but you would have to add a pretty significant grill to the front and sides to make them legal. I saw the Fancy one real quick at Lilies War. It seemed put together just fine. Of course Murdock didn't MAKE these. They are Impor...

I've seen these in person and tried them on. They are really no different in the level of protection than any 14th century finger gauntlets, maybe even a little better. They look great in person, and the series of small over lapping plates really provides a great level of protection. They other thi...

That Gentle is Cblackthorne.
The helms are still for sale.

look up his info on the AA.

And just to Note. The helms he has for sale ARE SCA Rattan Legal. They are 16ga stainless helms.
Now, if you are looking for a bomb proof helm for Rattan combat these are not. But, they ARE list legal.
