I think if you drop the lightning bolts down to below the sun/star and raise the sun/star up some it would help.

Re: Hanwei/Tinker Bastard Sword (Blunt)

Anyone got one and able to do a flex test on it for me, see if passes for Cut and Thrust? They're selling 'em cheaper than usual at the moment. JUST FYI, but Hanwei swords can have different flex's based on batches, not sword types. Ie, 2 of the same swords can have 2 different flex depth's. Your b...

If we want to buy "gilded gold" paint, what kind or brand do we ask for at the paint store or auto place? I used Liquitex Iridescent Bright Gold http://www.dickblick.com/items/00616-9143/ This type of paint comes in about 8 different colors, from white, copper, gold, silver, black. The trick is com...

Sweet helm upgrade from Two Ravens Armoury

So, here is a pic of a helm refurb that Ruthardis did ON SITE at Lilies War Last week.
This helm was an old Armour Store "viking" occular. All the brass work was done on site at war. The Camail had been added just a week before.

It also seems to be perfectly placed in the center of the page. And perfectly aligned with the edges. Not off to one side at a slight angle or other that one might think it would look like if it was just some scribe placing his glasses down on the page for a bit.

I have no problem being outdoors. I am out of doors all the time. That's kind of a crap thing to say. I just like trying to avoid the headaches that I am prone to through little fault of my own. If people can deal with all the modern bs that is at any given SCA event, I don't see why sunglasses are...

I picked up a nasal helm from him at Lilies War this Sunday. Pretty nice looking helm. I have a 23.5" head and it fits super close. If it were retrofitted for an SCA helm it would have to be a really small headed person.

Re: Sallet w/ Aventail

There were no sallets in the 14th century, they come about in the late 1420s or early 1430s. There are standards (collar) of maille and there is a tight fitting mask of maille (which I think Signo is talking about) that could be worn in this era; never seen or heard of a aventail on a sallet. What ...

Re: Just starting to do coinage and lamp work beads- NEED HE

Annealing does NOT make beads harder. I'm not sure who told you this. Annealing makes the beads tougher, not harder. You are arguing vocabulary. Harder/Tougher/more resistant to breakage/et al. It all means basically the same thing. Non-annealed beads are more prone to breakage than Annealed beads....

Re: What would be the best way to assemble a long scale cuir

I'm more inclined to believe this is a Scale Fauld or skirt. Not a full cuirass. The timing is off, the effigy is wearing full steel arms, legs, and sabatons with a small bascinet and attached aventail. The rest of the armour does not jive with a scale hauberk of some kind. But, it DOES jive with a ...

Re: Conflicted and confused (armour)

A muscled curiass is pretty much relagated to the Roman/greek time period. I'm pretty sure you can not even document viking age helms with a muscled cuirass.

And while VLC makes nice stuff, that particular muscled cuirass has a pretty heavy fantasy tinge to it as well.
