Re: Helm padding question
Thank you for pointing this out. My question is.....Is what I am looking at for padding (padded coif plus additional padding, possibly the black pipe foam) adequate or are there any other suggestions for properly padding this helm? Padded coif + black pipe insulation? or padded coif + another type ...

It is hard to find them used. They are so much fun that people rarely sell them off, whole. There are lots of parts out there, however. I have contemplated buying a receiver and then haunting Rimfirecentral for cast off parts as folks upgrade theirs to high end parts. Yeah, they are kind of like Ut...

But, you can't really make metal chain without riveting or welding.

Semi Auto - yes
Highly modifiable - no more than any other rifle
NOT a carbine. A carbine is a shorter version of an existing rifle. The Ruger 10/22 has not changed, it has always been that size.

Might be a dumbass question but have you tried Brownells? They had actions and action parts available the last time I was looking. Yeah, but after I bought all the needed parts from them to build a full 10/22 action, I could buy 2 full 10/22 rifles. :) I'm just looking for a stock run of the mill 1...

WTB Ruger 10/22?
Anyone have a Ruger 10/22 they are looking to part with?
I don't want anything fancy or even nice. I'll be taking it all apart anyway. Really all I need is the action. But, I can't seem to find those.

How is saying "Dibs" any different from making an "I'll buy that" post? Since people started whining on here about "Dibs" posts, I have stopped posting about sales altogether. I HATE "dibs". There are many things on the AA that come up for sale that would like but I refuse to "dibs pending blah blah blah". It is unfair to the seller AND other buyers. Now, that being said, one way to reduce the amount of "dibs pending blah blah blah" posts is for the seller to include ALL ...

My helm only has enough room for a little bit over the minimum of 1/2" in some places, and 3/4" in others. It's a weird shape too, being an onion top. I am fairly satisfied with the way it is padded now but I would still like to find something a little more comfortable. It's snug, and I got hit har...

I use the black EVA foam that Windrose sells.
I get 1/2" and 1/4" thickness sheets and tailor fit the padding to my head.
I also use a good 4 point chinstrap system.

Maybe I have a tender brain. I dunno. I tried several arrangements of it and did not have good results with it by itself. Are you padding your head to fit your helm or your helm to fit your head? This is a key problems I've found with MANY people having helm fit problems. Basically, they are paddin...

There is a statue of St. George in Florence's Bargello museum that has arms remarkably similar to the ones in the OP's pic. He's doing archery holding arrows in the hand, as opposed to alongside the bow, which is what most of the modern guys like Kassai do. From the size of his bow I'm guessing it's about 30 or so pounds -- quite light, but good enough for his purposes. Yeah I noticed that. Also, on his "speed" shooting...
