Thomas I have to be honest here. I have not seen anyone on this board be negative toward you. I see no reason why you need to be negative toward someone who quite frankly has asked a very pertanent and direct question. You have been on this board for some time and everyone has read the posts about h...

Just a note, and I may be off base but I would think that most people who even own a beverly shear can make armour. Unless you do some kind of metal forming a Beverly shear isn't usually a tool that is just lying around the basement. At least I have never come across one.

Unfortunately for us "big" guys (read as 50+ chest) there is not alot of "stock" shirts out there. As for SCA combat a riveted shirt will hold up. either 18 or 16ga will be fine. Either one will hold up MUCH better than a butted one. Now that being said, NO chainmaille shirt will be impervious to SC...

Question: What size are scales in period? I am not 100% possitive but I think an aventail negates the use of a gorget for SCA combat. When to step up your game with a new fighter?

Something on another thread got me thinking: When is it (during practice) that you decide that it is time to ramp up your game against "Joe Newbie"? For me it right after that time I get killed becuase "Joe Newbie" has just thrown a shot that I have not taught him. Meaning he has now reached a point...

They are usually 3 or 5 lame articulated pieces that have an extended last lame on either end. Sorta like a psuedo cuisse or psuedo vambrace.

Provides a little more protection without adding that much wieght and restriction of movement. I beleive they are an SCAism.
