I think it might be the "uni-slot" for the eyes in the visor or the onion dome with the brass top.

Speaking of tents, what would the ideal size of tent be for a single person, a heavy fighter, need if they wanted to stay the entire two weeks of pennsic? Torsten: I don't think Saverio was trying to come off Elitist. He does have a point about the SCA having alot of Genera-celts who claim Irish or Celtic roots but don't have the correct armour or garb to pull it off. YOU also have a point in that in the SCA certian comprimises need to be made for com...

here is a site that did an adaptation of a 13th century Fauldstool that was done cheaply and very well made. m It seems that for traveling that simple stools and benches were much more common that full blown chairs with backs and armrests. I have plans for the Scissor type chairs if you need them.

In their current manifestation, they are not period to my knowledge. However the technique used (mortise and tenon) is very period. Most (if not all) period examples of collapsable chairs that I have seen could not be made like the above chairs. The closest thing that I have been able to find is thi...

Looks like this is a size small helm. If the back piece was installed it would make it slightly smaller yet.

:x :( :x :(

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr to small :(
that would have been a sweet helm to add to my collection.

T-bob,

from the pictures, it looks like the scabbard is a bit larger around than the sword. Does the sword rattle around in the scabbard when you are moving (read as running?)

I use a suspender and belt set up. Something akin to a military web gear belt.

I also tighten my straps that go around the back of my knees and basically let the weight of the legs rest on the knee strap.

Yes 1/2 and 1/2 would be stronger. Any butted chain shirt will separate over time, but with 14ga steel wire the separation will be much smaller over time than 16ga.

Also, the larger the ring ID the weaker the shirt strength.

If it is butted the "standard" has been make it out of 14ga steel wire. 3/8" ID rings. That has had the best longevity for SCA combat. thinner wire and larger ID tend to separate easier.

It will also be fairly heavy. Riveted will be lighter and stronger but like you said more expensive.

Nice sheilds. Too bad the Rawhide didn't work out for you.

question:
what brand chew toy did you buy?

The ones I used were are BIG 12+inch long ones that are knotted on both ends. I think I got a 4 pack for $19. I got really good results from them.

What does thigh armour have to do with greaves? He could wear thigh guards under his leine and few would see them. The same goes for knee armour. Greatsword buttspikes?

Question:

There is a discussion right now in Calontir on whether or not to allow buttspikes on Greatswords. (only kills with a face thrust)

what are your experiences with them?
Does your kingdom allow them?
would you recommend them?
Or if you had the power outlaw them?
