No they are not cast. A waterjet is a cutting machine that uses HIGHLY PRESSURIZED water to cut metal. It is truely an amazing machine. It can cut 1/4 steel plate. As for the spurs I don't think that is what they are. I would imagine the "tags" in the end were left to keep the piece still as it was ...

For the most part here in Calontir, marshal's courts are only called when the atrocity was very intentional or if the parties involved can't come to an agreement before hand. Marshal's courts are not supposed to be used as an alternative to discussion but as the next step if an agreement can't be ma...

Sorry, I assumed you were looking for period shields. There are MANY variations of shields in the SCA that are not period. Off the top of my head the only "squarish" centergrip shields I have seen are roman Scutums (which are large) and late period fencing bucklers.

Mostly centergrips were round or oval, with the ocassional wenkel and center grip heater thrown in.

Does anyone have any photographs of well done, accurate, Irish or early Celtic fighting kits? I'm interested in a wide range as far as time frame. I'd even be interested in Viking influenced / Irish. Mikhail has the jist of it. Please look at your kingdoms standards for SCA great swords with ricassos. Just to be totally safe. I would toss them. Go buy a couple more doggy toys and soak them. You shouldn't need to soak them longer than a few hours to get them soft and pliable. At least that was my experience. I used warm water.
