Thats cool TBob. But if you look at the pictures of the "stick trebuchets" that started this thread they plainley use steel tubing and sheet steel with modern welds and carriage bolts. Basically a modern equivalant to a medieval machine that would be more at home on Junkyard wars instead of a mediev...

Personally if you are going to use this thing, I would like to see it made in a period way. The welded steel is not period.

Interesting idea, but personally when you start using modern technology and materials you defeat the whole purpose.

I think there is BIG difference between "centering your self", "focusing", "gathering your Chi" or as we say in Calontir "flipping the switch" and fighting at a higher level than being able to summon some mystic force and knock someone down with some kind of Kenetic blast. Why are you using a side strapped round shield?

A center punch round shield or heater shield would benefit you much more.

Also, is your starting stance of having the sword down one you learned from your research or one you adopted as practical?

Interesting, Your Game is kinda SCA meets LARP meets Boffer fighting. It would be interesting to play at one of your tourneys. Your groups looks alot like PoD's group "The Salinas Swordsman" in the pictures. Your fighting style is similar to. Although you pad your weapons and PoD's group does not.

My theroy to the popularity of the wrap shot is this...in the rules of the SCA one can not truely displace your opp shield. You cant kick it, push it down with your elbows, or just plain old rip it outa thier hands. This has led to a secondary means of shield displacment. And because in the trainin...

We have this convention in Calontir. I asked this question not to long ago and got this answer from someone who's opinion I respect. The reason for measuring in such a "non consistant way" is to make it as consistant and fair as posible. ie, by measuring the shield in this way each combatant is pret...
