No the tokens do NOT have to be metal. Wood could work. I am not to keen on the dowel rod idea, to easy to make them un even. But, the leather idea could work, but maybe the leather would get to expensive. Washers was an idea but I have not been able to find an outlet for them that was cheap enough....

It is simply a case of a small town mentality and ignorance running wild. AGAIN. this guy is running a home based business. The ONLY thing that he would even remotely be liable for is running a business out of a non business zoned building. Think of it like this, what if this guy made armour? He did...

The big problem is since this is for a fundraiser I don't want to spend $300 on the betting coins. It ...

Thats not totaly true, the other reason is less catch surface. If you hit a squire it catches, you hit a convex curved surface it glances off. AB Hammer Actually every time I try to hit a "squire" they try and move out of the way! Are you trying to say that Squires need to gain more weight and beco...

That is a fine helm you showed Tom, Now looking at mine, I think I got the top too tall. I nicknamed mine "The Frankenstein Helm", all it needs now is some battery lugs on the sides.... the problem is Geoffrie, that it is unfair to make the 90% fighting community modify the acceptable safety gear just so the 10% fighting community can play with a different arrow. Plus, I for one spent way to much money on my rig and helmet to have that look ruined by fencing mesh. There really is N...

sorry, ignored the part about protection... for my money, I use cloth padding on the inside of mine. The easy method is to go buy a 100% cotton oven mitt. It's cheap, already quilted, and you get to sets of padding from one mitt. Tear the seams, and each half of the oven mitt fits in each gauntlet....

Well, I know Rodrick of Mandrake armoury is currently working on a set of microlame sliding rivet gauntlets that he says will be the last gauntlets you will ever buy. I've been using an 18gg mild steel case hardened and tempered salet/close helm hybrid for the past four years now. Mind you, the steel was pushed from the bottom half of the sides and the back of the helmet to the top-ish center where more sword strikes fall with a raising process ,and not dished. ...

Well I would imagine a water solubale glue in water would yeild a harder cuir bolle when done. I would just make sure to wipe all excess off real good.

Agincourt has some good points but also think on this. Are you doing this to make money or because you enjoy doing it and would probably do it even if you hadn't gotten the idea to sell your stuff? I have to disagree about being Calontir- they are one of the most cohesively dressed units on the field, and their discipline is great, but as to their effectiveness... they lack. there are a couple ways to rid/reduce ring in your helmet: 1. Don't get hit in your helmet! 2. drilling a hole in the helm will break the "resonance" of the helm (or should, that is what I have been told by quite a few people) 3. There is a "lining" or spray on coating that guys use on the inside of...
