Under the robe I have an arming coat with Leather elbows pointed to it and the small flower elbow caps attatched over those. Padded legs with the flat style knees and schinbalds. It depends on if he is going for middle or late 14th century. If middle then the surcoat and helmet, if Late then I would replace the legs with articulated steel. You allready know about the arms.
