In Arms and armour of the medieval knight page 87 upper right corner there is a pigface with markings where a crown was.

The hospitlars wore robes until given special dispensation in 1248 for when they were in armour. I have also read about fighting/robber monks.

Re: Klappvisored bascinet and hounskull bascinet
I have a couple of both. The best visibility is from the best helmet. My two pig faced visors have a huge diference. The closer the eye slots are to the eye the better you will be able to see out.

Britanic Kelt,
I still need to do a shoulder cape and a larger shield. This is only a side kit for fun so not lots of bling.

Re: Medieval hunting
Just in case anyone was intrested here is the web site.
http://www.sthubertsrangers.org/
There is also another group tht is SCA chartered. We can not perform an actual hunt in the SCA but promote study of the medieval hunting.
http://www.huntguild.org/
Lots of fun in both groups.

Not in left field at all. For a simple kit you can look at Jas townsend and son. There is also G. Gedney Godwin, Flying canoe and Bell and company traders

Re: Arming points on mail shirts- 14th Century
I put my points through the chain. My points have the brass tips and will pass through quite easily. I recomend doing this as it also helps hold the chain in place.
