The knees are six inches from edge to edge, and 13 inches around.

The handle requires that the rattan be carved down and then the handles are fitted to either side, glued and duck taped on.

I have an early 14th century helmet with scalloped brass trim for sale. It was made by Halberds and is very well constructed. Inside is 27". Just too large for me. Asking $150 plus shipping.

In the German rittershield book they show a piece of what looks like leather that passes through the shield and is knoted in an over hand knot. I was wondering if any of the German speaking archivers out there could enlighten me on what this piece is and what they used it for? Thank you,

They can but not as bad as you would think. I believe that the red oak set is actualy mine, and I find them very nice. Up until we moved they were our primary dining room chairs.

Heres what I would do,

A proper belt with some nice studs, a plaque belt, a padded aventail, chauses and brais, and finaly some decent 14th century buckles. Well there are the shoes but you allready know about those. Take care and good luck.
