I've been looking at this basic idea for a couple of years now. I've got designs made up. I've one design for a house, and one for a castle tower. A decent thatched roof is expensive to replicate, especially when you take in to consideration fire codes. Over all cost are very high for anything that ...

I have three peddinghaus hammers and love them. Some times you can make up for weight with a longer handle. My 200g raising hammers sucked tell I put a 16in handle on it now I use it all the time and for the most part woudln't want it much heavier.

Tim, other than its an oval not a round its not that unusual. I based the high roof line off the 16c swiss round that is in a museum. Working on a lot of upgrades at the moment. Including a 5ft round arming pavilion for use as a shower, and two rounds for my kids or guest to use. also about to resew the walls onto the tent pictured as the eaves aren't very level and that change will make the whole thing look far better. So, the question is, do we want the SCA to be a romantic medievalist organization, or would we rather have it more strictly historical? I've done a set of arms in that scale once. I had to do what many people do with nuckle gauldings and dish them out from an oversized piece of metal then trim it to size after shaping. I used a hole in a stump and ground the end of a grade-8 bolt to the shape I needed and used it to dish with. Brian
