I've been looking at this basic idea for a couple of years now. I've got designs made up. I've one design for a house, and one for a castle tower. A decent thatched roof is expensive to replicate, especially when you take in to consideration fire codes. Over all cost are very high for anything that ...

Tim, other than its an oval not a round its not that unusual. I based the high roof line off the 16c swiss round that is in a museum. It's awsome at night with candle filled chandeliers hanging fromt he ridge rope. I do need to reattach the walls around the ends as thats where the eaves line is way ...

Working on a lot of upgrades at the moment. Including a 5ft round arming pavilion for use as a shower, and two rounds for my kids or guest to use. also about to resew the walls onto the tent pictured as the eaves aren't very level and that change will make the whole thing look far better. So, the question is, do we want the SCA to be a romantic medievalist organization, or would we rather have it more strictly historical? Should the governing documents be changed to reflect the reality, or should the reality be changed to agree with the governing documents? Should the vampire/elf/pi...

for the diamond breath holes, I punched them. I did first drill small holes at each location as to keep everything in its place (would have sucked to slip with a punch). I took a larger cold chisel and ground it to a tapered diamond shape. I had to regrind it once part way through punching all the h...

When I made mine I rolled the top of the lower ring in slightly, it takes less than what you might think. Once I was ready to rivit them together I set on rivit next to each eye slot and on in the middle of the back then worked the pieces over to get them perfectly matched up before drilling and riv...

fantasy piece
My son (The teenage artist) decided he wanted to design and make some fantasy armour. i told him to design a piece and I'd help him make it. Well he designed it http://members.armourarchive.org/knitebee/drawing.jpg But his design was a bit beyond his ability to hammer out so I wound up getting sweet...

Based off how well the buckle held up when grabbed by the buffing wheel and flung across the garage I dont thing there will be much issue with streangth. While something out of PMC may not be as strong as a cast piece do to the micro porisity, I would rate it well over 80% of the strength of a solid...

PMC starts to dry out quicker than I'd like, I dont have a mister to keep it moist while sculpting it, and probably should. Just expanding on Brents last post. I made my round end marque last year with a extra tall top. Two upright poles and nothing else but ropes hold it up. Due to the extreem slope of the top I've been able to set it up with all the ropes (wall and highwind ropes) all within 3ft of the tent walls. Brian

After some rescent reeding, I've thought of a detail to add to my protrayal. That being the proper visas and other travel documents. Does anyone have any links to any existing documents? I've done a set of arms in that scale once. I had to do what many people do with nuckle gauldings and dish them out from an oversized piece of metal then trim it to size after shaping. I used a hole in a stump and ground the end of a grade-8 bolt to the shape I needed and used it to dish with. Brian
