My crest is leather stuffed with cotton batting, it takes a beating at events and practices and still looks good. Occasionally I blow out a stitch that needs redone and after while (months) it gets dull and needs repainted.

m this the helm you are looking for? 3.5 - 4.5lb thats really light, I have an 18g bascinet that weighs about 4lb and it will dent in rapier fighting. Mass in a helmet means as much as strength in disapating blows. If controled power steel fighting you might be able to get away with a 16g stainless ...

There is a huge differance in how avantails fit from helm to helm. How far down the side of the head the helm comes, how far from the back of the head does the helm keep the avantail etc etc. As such I will not say that an avantail alone is adiquate, some times it is some times it isn't. What do you mean finished? I see four empty rivet holes

beautiful work, didn't think I'd care much for the copper trim but it works nicely.

Rounds are the best in high winds, there is not flat surfice on them to catch the wind. High wind ropes off the peak regardless of the type of tent are a must IMHO.

Personal opinion here, but the Wisby #3 gauntlets thumb design if done right rocks. Ridged articulation with two rivets so the thumb cann't be bent sideways. It lacks a little in its unmodified form on side protection of the thumb tip, but that could be modified. m Brian www.brianbrownarmoury.com (e...

I can do some very nice body armour. Unlike helms though, there is far more variation in sizes and how people want their BP to fit for them to be something to make for stock. But then again I feel that way about most pieces or armour.

I dont have an A-frame myself. I've looked at a number of other peoples though. Some use metal tubing for the ridge pole. Another trick I've seen on a large one was they used a 2x6 for the ridge pole and carved down the ends to a round section to go through the A-frame. http://members.armourarchive....
