congrats to Irishbull44 for winning Summits coronet
The summits principality coronet list came down to two archivers in the finals, Irishbull44 (Lord Brogan) and horsefriend (Sir Alail). It was a most excelent display of combat. copied from a different board Lord Brogan o'Bryant the Bull defeated Sir Alail Horsefriend 2 out of 3 in the finals. Brogan...

Because SCA spear gods have egos far too big to take cover behind shields. Well put. Every example I've seen of someone complaining about CA has had more to do with their ego than all other reasons combined. Wars are about tactics, manuvers and strategy, not indivudual prowess. A good fighter can g...

Did some more today, the hinges are now riveted on the vambrace. Rivets are custom made so they look proper compared to the modern ones I ussualy use. http://members.armourarchive.org/knitebee/arm20.JPG http://members.armourarchive.org/knitebee/arm17.JPG http://members.armourarchive.org/knitebee/arm...

A little extra in front to back measurement of the helm and extra padding at the brow brings the head further back into the helm to allow room for glasses. Chin strap mounted far enough back that it pulls the head into the back of the helm to keep shifting inside the helm. Other than contacts or spo...

if you want someone else to make it there are many of us on here that can. If you want to do it yourself, then run down to your local home depot or equivalent store and get a brass kick pannel for the bottom of a door (make sure to get a solid brass one not brass plated). Make a pattern off your cur...

At society level and in many kingdoms finger gauntlets are NOT required to bridge to the weapon, they are required to have 1/4in of padding in them though. My finger gauntlets other than the required padding are very close to typical late 14c finger gauntlets. Also remember modern sports fighting is...

In the side view picture linked to, it looks as if there is 4 diagnal slots simular placed as what I'd use for pointing my legs to, then below this is a aprox 1 1/2 - 2in tall verticle slot that looks like its ...

Personal conjecture here.... I would say not only plausible but makes sense in a way. If you where wearing a flat topped helm of that basic design, where could you expect to be most likely hit? right on the edge of the top would be my thoughts. As such woudln't moving that edge a little further from...

Re: Leather as Armour, and 'Limited Armour Style' theory
There are two things that 'gripe my liver' about many reinactors: 1. The denial of leather as a viable armour type used by northern peoples (Saxons, Danes, etc,...) 2. The general belief that if it wasn't found in a grave, they didn't use that style. (for example, howbeit silly: Northumbrians only ...
