I haven't found them any cheaper than you. BUT you can buy the molds to make your own for about half that price and can make sets for friends too. Also great to make extra pawns so you can play Hnefatafl with the same pieces. heres a couple of quick links, if you search around you'll find two differ...

Mid 15c Italian arm finished (update sep24)
A while back I got one of Boccia's books via ILL, I noticed that many of the mid 15c on arm harness had a very small wrap plate on the vambrace, most about 1/3 of the total arm diameter and a few clear down as small as aprox 1/4 the diam. Becuase of moving I had to return the book before I could sca...

articulated elbows for sale
All 16g mild construction, high polish, 5in wide at the elbow (inside measurement). They are currently unstrapped, but I'll strap them if wanted for another $15. You wont find many elbows with this level of fit on the articulation. Asking $75 +shipping. They are perfect for adding either steel or le...

I dont make stock helmets, every piece I make is custom fit. I ask for width front to back, side to side and circumfrence at the brow, PHOTOS of the persons head, and info on how much room for padding they want. Photos do wonders for seeing abnormalities that could make a helm fit wrong, and with a ...

This is a tool steel, use it for tools. =) hehe you haven't seen myother stock pile, over a dozzen planer blades from a plywood mill 5/8in thick 5 1/2in wide and 54in long An...

The only markings I've found so far on the blade where size info. but there is still another 20+ piece laying under the bench that I haven't gone through yet. I'll look into austempering in the future, there is not heat treatin...

riveted cauldron
I was asked to make a riveted cauldron, no welds, capacity aprox 1gallon. Heres the results. holds a tad over 5quarts if filled to the rim. It sealed up far better than I thought was possible, I put 1 gallon of water in it and it took 30min for it to loose 1/2gallon, for unsealed riveted constructio...

L6 for armour?
so I've got some L6 saw blade from the local sawmill. It mics out rigth at 16g in thickness and is about 10in wide. I've started making a set of knees from it. Has anyone on here ever played with L6 for armour? I've got heat treat charts and planning on trying to temper to about 50Rc, is this to hig...

an intern idea is 3m surface conditioning pads. I use them all the time and can get a near mirror finish between them and a buffing wheel. m I use a plastic backing disk for a 4 1/2in angle head grinder that is designed for sand paper and cut a hole in the middle of the pads. They work awsome. Brian

I have never seen a Gotgarb sunshade. HOWEVER, from their website it says that the sunshades are 8oz, 50/50 cotton poly blend fabric. 1. I think 8oz. is a little thin for such large expanses of fabric. Most pavilions are made of 10oz or 13oz cotton canvas. 2. cotton poly blend means the shade will ...

I've a good friend that has had numerious concusions from SCA combat. He has mentioned many a time he wonders how much damage its caused. some conjecture here, but those gauntlets originally had some sort of trim piece (holes are there from them) just like the other one you posted the picture to. So where they originally more of a point that got smoothed out when setting what ever type of rivet/trim was there? To get that same look I'...

http://members.armourarchive.org/knitebee/churburg_gauntlet2.jpg Notice how the originals dont come to a point so you dont need the sharp edge down the front. Two other points for you is the angle compaired to the back of the hand (which is slightly curved as you can see with the line I overlaid on...
