i haven't read the article on layered breastplates but did watch it on TV (history channel I think). they found a tasset from an earlier time frame as the middle layer in the breastplate.

I'm planning on something similar to this:

with a few modifications.
107 yards dang thats just a little fabric, I could make 3-4 pavilions with that much.

Someday I will get around to shooting a short movie of them moving to show how the articulations work. We get questions about this type of gauntlet every so often, it would be nice to have a canned answer. Wade Such a video would be awsome. I look forward to such a day that you get video made. Ther...

my dream tent, top row with the towers in the corners (nothing says camping in style like a tent with closets), either this summer or next year I'll build it. I uses a tight fitting set in sleeve. If you make the armseye too large you will cause the boddy to tug when you lift your arm. I have worn maille with the outfit a couple of times with no problem. Same here, at first it takes a little getting use to as most modern clothes dont fit snug in the armp...

for the money you are better off with the 2x42 belt sander from sears m I have one, i left the table, platten and side cover off and it makes for a decent slack belt sander, not nearly as nice as the good 2x72 sanders but far cheaper. for wood working it would be handy especially with the platten in...

if you look at original 14c breastplates you will find that they are seriously dished out and have far more room for your curves than what you may realize, without having to have customization. My globlose breastplate has over 3in of gap between my chest and the metal. It only comes in contact with ...

Dont forget powder coating amongst your options. My dad has been restoring a claw foot tub for mom, and was looking at having the feet chromed, wound up having it powder coated for far less and it looks like they've been chrome plated. Fair enough. But how do modern folk solve either issue? On mine I solved it by putting the slot to access the front section on the outside not inside. new dagger scabbard
I picked up this beautifull dagger a little over a year ago and while the dagger is awsome the scabbard sucked to say the least, a simple rectangle of edge sewn black leather 1 1/2in longer than the blade. Well I finally got arround to making a new one, two layers of 4-6oz leather formed wet and dri...

I dont know most of the answers to your questions, BUT I've notices on some 3/4 suits that the bottom lame of the spaulders have a pair of eyelets to attach them just above the elbow. who says you cann't have cavalry in SCA combat?
after thinking about it for months I'm finally building myself a new off hand weapon. Hobby horse madu basically (well minus the top thrusty). I've got to add a hoof shaped thrusting tip to the end of the handle yet, as well as some other details. [img]http://members.armourarchive.org/knitebee/hobby...

for better than your typical India import blade American Fencing supply has decent bare blades http://www.amfence.com/html/blades_armoury.html they are no where the quality of the Angus Trim blades (I own one that I made fittings for and love it) or other custom or high-end blades, but are far more affordable.

So whats in your belt pouch?
So upgraded my kidney shaped belt pouch to a more period design. Got me thinking what should be carried in one?
