i haven't read the article on layered breastplates but did watch it on TV (history channel I think). they found a tasset from an earlier time frame as the middle layer in the breastplate.

107 yards dang thats just a little fabric, I could make 3-4 pavilions with that much.

I uses a tight fitting set in sleeve. If you make the armseye too large you will cause the boddy to tug when you lift your arm. I have worn maille with the outfit a couple of times with no problem. for the money you are better off with the 2x42 belt sander from sears m I have one, i left the table, platten and side cover off and it makes for a decent slack belt sander, not nearly as nice as the good 2x72 sanders but far cheaper. for wood working it would be handy especially with the platten in...

if you look at original 14c breastplates you will find that they are seriously dished out and have far more room for your curves than what you may realize, without having to have customization. Biggest thing I've found is you let your bodies weight dictate your foot work. If you throw a shot and the mass of your body goes a certain direction then go that way with your feet. If you let the "slipperyness" of the soles direct yoru foot work instead of fighting it you'll be fine. Eve...

after thinking about it for months I'm finally building myself a new off hand weapon. Hobby horse madu basically (well minus the top thrusty). for better than your typical India import blade American Fencing supply has decent bare blades http://www.amfence.com/html/blades_armoury.html they are no where the quality of the Angus Trim blades (I own one that I made fittings for and love it) or other custom or high-end blades, but are far more affordable.
