to heat the acid you can try what I have done a few times. Take a cake pan or other dish that is shallower but otherwise larger than your acid container and put it in the sink. Adjust your faucet so that a slow but steady flow of warm water runs into the pan at a rate that doesn't cause splashing. N...

if you streach the boss the direction your shield is flat (typically top to bottom) it will pull the sides in curving it. This should at least get the boss closer to fitting and bolts can potentially pull it down the rest of the way.

I don't have the ability to anneal this, so am I screwed? I was gonna etch it, but am not looking foward to all of the duct tape cut out work. there are other options to masking for etching. finger nail polish makes a great resist and you can paint it on in intricate patterns. Hey Brian, Depending on what you already have and what your focus is going to be production/custom. I would suggest male/female dishing forms. After making those sweet gauntlets of yours just think how much faster it would've gone with a fingertip or gadling forms. We really need to get together so...

for the pin itself I've allways just chucked the head of the rivet up in the drill press then used a file to size down the bottom of it. That way the new smaller shank is bottomed out when setting the rivet.

So how well do the Wisby gaunts protect?? Have you been out fighting in them yet?? That particular pair are not padded for SCA combat. Finished pair, the slight color differance was due to not yet having oiled the right knee. Once oiled the color matches perfectly from knee to knee. Not that I know Knitebee's reasoning, but from experience, drilled holes in metal will wear the stitching more quickly, actually. One could allways deburr the holes, but that would still wear the stitching material rather quickly. Perhaps punching the holes would be better? I would love to see clos...

Watch ebay for scalmandre silk velvet, its upholstery weight silk, extreemly tough and durable. On ebay it can be picked up for about $75 a yard but the feel and streangth of it is well worth it in my book (have 1 3/4yrd waiting for custom rivets to be cast to attach them to my breastplate)

without padding will just fit a 18in neck, less with padding. Can make different ones with different embossing and trim. Here's another one i did recently for my consort.
