I would have to bet that its mirrored as the sleeves are mirrored. In one of my heraldry books it mentions heraldic pieces like this, according to the book the Owner of the heraldry would wear it as pictured while his retainers would wear it turned 90deg. so he would have big body small arms, and th...

What I remember finding was carved mable or simular collumns about 7ft - 8ft tall that had a hollow through the middle for the wooden pole to go. I do not remember any other details, like time period. I continue to search for the information and if no one can direct me in the right direction I'm sur...

Pavilion poles
I recall seeing some information no some pavilions actually had fancy carved columns that worked as the bottom of the center poles. I think I had even seen some photos of existing columns in a museum. I've spent many hours trying to find this information again and as I am wanting to do something sim...

Period food storage
Been thinking about food and events, what are some better ways to store a few days supply of food for events. I Big thing is breads, I've read some referances to bread bags. So what makes a bread bag? Does it need to be oiled or waxed to help keep bread fresh? I was about to sew up some linen bags a...

I actually considered making the cone a little bigger and doing removable walls and a open seam up the cone so it could be set up as a full round or a cone, but for the ammount of fabric I had a full round was the best bet for usable space. I am thinking about getting some more fabric and making a c...

making my second pavilion (updated)
I only have the top cone done so far. The walls are cut out but not stitched yet. Dimensions are 12ft round at the floor, 8ft round at the top of the walls, walls just under 7ft tall, over all height should be about 13 1/2ft. While I plan to set it up with ropes holding the walls out, I did sew in s...

They are very historical. The first ones you put the link for seem to extend more than they should other wise are dead on. With the fingers extended the rider plate should be flush under the nuckles of the gauntlet, there by invesible untill a fist is made. Do a search and you will find a few previo...

Tim It is based of the late 14c early 15c short gown patern in Medieval Taylors Assistant, there is also a number of simular shirts in Gaston Phoebus Hunting Book. I didn't manage to get as much flair and there for pleating in the body as it should have. As to choice of fabric, it was 70% I liked it...

Thanks for the kind words Tasha. I see what you mean about the neck flair on the collar. As tp the fabric, it was $1yrd stuff from wallmart, so no idea of actual content as it wasn't even labeled. It feels like a cotton synthetic blend, but may be all synthetic. All I know is it looked to good to pa...

My new shirt, what do you think?
Just finished this up a couple of days ago. Its reversable so either green on gold or gold on green. Its got a few flaws but I'm happy with it for the most part. Honest critque more than welcome. simple use sound board, its far more expensive than dray wall but is designed to absorb sound. More complex, build a secondary wall with the struds offset from the current wall, so there is no mechanical coupling for sound to transfer through the walls. Search google for home studio and sound room a...

what wool for chausses
I'm about to try my hand at some 14c wool chausses, but what weave of wool do I want. I will most likely purchase it from Denver farbrics as I have no local outlet and have had such excelent service from them in the past. I plan on fulling what ever I get before cutting and sewwing.
