We have one of the Spanish-Norman horses at the Kentucky Horse Park. It is on loan, and the activities director rides it in parade and in the quintain/ring jousts. It's a beautiful horse, but doesn't look that much different than the Andulusians, which are also beautiful horses. My favorite would be...

If you read a little more of the HACA site on half-swording, you'd learn to use the sword as a steel crowbar. Half-swording a la Fiore de Liberia involves wrestling techniques designed to utilize leverage to put a man on the ground. Once thrown to the ground you have the advantage. Disarms are also ...

I use tightly sewn wheels, loosely sewn wheels and loose wheels (no stitching) in that order. For taking out grinding marks or stock removal I use Rio Grande "Rio Quick Finish" in 400 or 220 grit. When I do fight SCA (which is not very often), I also wear combat boots with heavy tread soles. The lace-up ankle provides support, the soles grip in the wet woods, and they don't give me blisters. Since they look like canine excretement I made a pair of chain maille sabatons that slip over the toe,...

In some states when you hunt bear you have to carry at least a 357 magnum or larger handgun in case your rifle only maddens him.
