Re: SCA and Battle of Nations
There are no rules against using the pole axe as a wrestling tool. I am not sure what you mean by differences in striking technique. In the single combats judges count good hits in a finite timed matches. I believe there are three one and a half minute rounds. I will check. In mellees touching the ...

I thought Steel Mastery had allowed some folks to sell his gear and use his material/ads. Could have the wrong armorer who did this, but thought I would add my pence here. pax - Janos And if he did, great, more power to him. But we've had enough cases of folks ripping off someones photos and design...

Well, I shot Steel Mastery an email alerting them to it. If it's them, great, if not, someone is ripping off their images.

I didn't realize the stereotype of "the SCAdian habit of living in someones basement and bailing on the rent, or buying stuff and using it for four days and giving up, or putting things in a storage locker and then not paying for it, etc" was so prevalent. I never saw that it was posted a...

asking a question cannot be libelous, as it does not make any statement. True, but the post title is not in the form of a question. It's a request. "post here _IF_ Westland has stolen from you" Nobody posted that they had. Even the OP never posted that they had. He said the utter lack of ...

Nice! I like em. I have found, however, that imparting a slight angle, front to back, tipped in bottom towards the top, makes the table a bit more "self righting" when someone leans on it. Those are really nice looking though.

No, it doesn't. But this is cyclical here, with people going after sellers and tossing out words like theft with 0 proof.

Re: Coat of Plates or Breast & Back - which is safer for SCA
A cop, done right, is just as protective. We don't deal with points, but big padded masses. that said, what you feel comfortable in is more important. Bruises happen, this is an adult game. But with properly constructed armor (sometimes a bit different than period armor.. again, no points) you will ...

Re: use of katzbaglers and other landsknecht questions
The katz is your close quarters weapon. Hard to do close fighting in the pike block, so a one handed weapon you can draw and use without dropping the haft with both hands is necessary.
Longer swords were also ring hilted, but the katz was short, broad, and often had a rounder tip.

In terms of gauntlets, what does it mean if the gaunlets are grounded or not grounded? That they touch the wood/handle of your weapon, rather than your fingers touching it. IE: they will hit the wood before your fingers get smashed. these do not ground: http://www.wulflund.com/images_items/medieval...
