I may be wrong, but thats an older article.. and for about what you are paying for those (wrong) rings, I think you can get _real_ riveted rings from Ringlord along with the proper rivets, and the tool to do it.
I am _sure_ I remember reading something about it here.

The fighter i experienced that the most with was Random Wronghand.. first off the salad strainer helm he was wearing made it impossible to tell what his expression was.. (as do most close-faces). He also had that reputation of coming out from behind his shield either right or lefty..and you wouldnt ...

The SCA re creates medieval type grande Melees with combatants protraying persona from many different cultures and time periods. To that end in our melees it is more important to use the right tool for the job than only user period weapons for your time. If that were the case the later period peopl...

Northwest Lumber (the good hardwood place in Indy) is weird--when you ask for a 2x4, they will cut you a plank that is 2" x 4" (not the 1.5" x 3.5" standard). Consequently, my tent poles are "beefier" than what is standard. Oh.. thats too freakin cool! (and yeah.. i meant 1.5 by 3.5.. my bad)! Maeryk

I discovered I never knew how good I was until someone told me. I had the bad luck in the few one v one tourneys I played in to draw veterans/Knights all the time, and got killed pretty handily. So that wasnt a way to judge, and in the melee tourneys it was usually TEAMS of good guys.. like.. Balfar...

No, the grab and yank isnt the thing that I have a problem with at all. I've taken spears from people in melees before. Well, both of those are slightly different cases, now aren't they? Thats why I asked. I wondered if those in opposition make a distinction between someone, say, in the line itself grabbing spears and yanking, vs someone "hiding" and doing it, or if its just the act of the grab and yank thats the is...

CM5. A fighter who has lost his weapon during a melee is not considered helpless, and a "hold" will not be called.
From EAst Kingdom combat conventions.. (YMMV)

You must have a different version of the Marshall's Handbook. Mine doesn't have a seperate "Behavior on the field" section for melees and tournaments. It's true that what you say is the custom, and I've stated my understanding of that fact already. That is because you are not reading it correctly. ...

Actually, bituminous will burn in a deep pile in a bottom-blast forge, depending on your fire-pot and air supply; however, it takes a near-constant air supply and a lot more tending. Okay.. am I missing something? cause thats what I said.. or did you mean Anthracite (hard) coal will burn that way? ...

From the marshall's handbook: Any fighter who obtains an unfair advantage by repeatedly becoming "helpless" (e.g. by falling down or losing his or her weapon) may, after being duly warned by the marshals on the field, be forced to yield the fight... Dude.. in a melee if you throw your sword at me, ...
