Vitamin D is fairly easily synthesized just from sun contact.. something we can assume they had more of than we do, can't we? As far as calcium.. I think in todays society we tend to do a lot less soups and stocks "with bones in" during the cooking phase.. that takes a _lot_ of calcium out and leave...

Alrighty then. One of our wenches spotted someone she didnt recognize coming out of the tent of another one of our wenches. She raised the alarm and in seconds there were dogs in the woods fanned out chasing this guy. Since it was dark the night vision goggles came out and were very handy. It took ...

Do you have any overlap from front to back of the canvas? Or does it basically leave the aluminum edges uncovered? I really wanna do this soon! I have so much leather scrap laying around my house, I could probably laminate a shield just out of that.. so thats what I will be using for my edging. Migh...

I agree, bruises aren't required, but we shouldn't complain when we get them- we are hitting each other with sticks, what did our mothers tell us as children??? Mine said "why dont you guys go outside and hit each other with sticks, or shoot each other with BB guns or something! Its a nice day for ...

I'm about to be covering an old heater with canvas front and back, and edging and painting it as well. (something has to cover the leftover "55 MPH" on the back) What wood glue are you using, how are you applying it, and are you getting bleed-through that affects the painting? I'm going to punch it ...

Okay.. so i bought a panther marquis (square end) from Sir Icefalcon, and will be setting it up for the first time this weekend. Couple of questions from the whole "correct" crowd. I havent set this type of tent up in years.. and never really owned one. What I have now is a steel frame Medieval Misc...

Turn a long thinnish tenon or bung on the end of hte handle, then turn/drill a hole through the middle of the head. Make sure the shoulder on the handle sits flush and square to the shoulder on the head, and use some good epoxy or urethane glue, and it should hold up. personally, I'd use sliding dov...

Actually the hill is not the Tuchucks ancestral land. E11 where clovenshield camps is the original spot. I was there the year that you guys, well anyway really old guys that are mostly not around anymore decided it would be manly and heroic to kill a pig for dinner. Pigs are harder to kill than man...

Stop ignoring the obi-wan voice in the back of your head when you fight. I used to fight in a barrel with teeny tiny eyeslots.. you get used to a lot "inferred" movement, and really really picky about range placement. If your experience is anything like mine was, you find that spot where you can see...

Hehehe.. those two years.. whats that.. 24 and 25? I think? (calontir invasion, and the "going away party") were some of the coolest pennsics ever, from my perspective. I think 24 was the year of the trash dump fire.. (or is that 23 and 24? They run together after a while). yeah.. the big drum was a...

Clovenshield sure misses having the chuks as neighbors. You used to get blamed for all sorts of crap we did. Was heading over to Confed one night, and had previously gotten permission from Random to use the Clovenshield side of the "bridge" across the ravine. Saw him out near the road, said "can we...

Then there was the year of the Calontir land-grab, but that, little Adam, is another story. (Plus, I wasn't there so it is best told by someone who was.) Are you referring to the year some idiot in Calontir decided his "king" wanted to camp in the shade and they set up right next to you on the hill...

Get a carraige bolt or something like that, and grind the shape you want on/in the head, then buff it to a polish. The _BIG_ issue with leather is that the tannins in oak tanned leather will react with the iron in the steel to indelibly dye the leather black. So you want to coat it with something, o...

My initial thought is full calibration. A fully calibrated to the side or back of my mellon thrown from behind (IMHO) would result in a very different reaction than a fully calibrated wrap that lands on my grill (or a positive force pokie). Just my .02, but from a safety perspective, I would worry ...

Lothar! The story I got from Wulf was pretty mundane really. Him and his friends, some of them students from his school, got together with bokkens and such and fought through the woods near his home. This progressed, adding different weapons and rudimentary armor as they went. Then I guess around p...

Depending on the shoes you are making, it might even be too thick for uppers. I have always had good luck with soft leathers that are only slightly heavier than garment weight for uppers, personally. THese are fairly heavy.. stiff, and will be hard to "Form" to any kind of shape.. they are chrome ta...

Ok, the first thing I'll point out to you is that there is not now, nor has there ever been a Tuchuk named 'Gonad'. Christ.. what was his name. Looked like Conan.. body builder type.. everyone called him (at least everyone I knew at the time, and he answered to it) GOnad the Barbarian.. this was ar...
