I don't fight in holmgang style tournies, or any other tourney where the object is to shove your opponent out of a ring. I don't find thosse fun at all, because they rarely have anything to do with skill, and are all about size. I like pas style tournies, and bear pit (when there are enough pits for...

I would add Duke Tomiki to the list of greats (I think he might be able to take Stefan).

I would say that locally, Killian Frederick, who is on the Mid Realm Unbelted team, is starting to look hot.

If you see him running around, you should fight him now and put some fear in him, cause he is going to explode onto the scene in the next year or two.

I think that you also need to add in hand/wrist strength, and mass of arm and body into the equation, as the ability to transfer that force need to be added intothe discussion- not to mention the density and flex of the stick itself. I think that we all know that a good new stick will "hit harder" t...

Lutr is certainly hot right now! I think we need to define a difference between hot right now and just plain damn good. Usually a guy who is hot has found a shot that is working, or is doing something differently from what everyone else is, and it is working really well for them right now. Then the ...

JP, I have never heard that Brion actually won the tournament by his own hand. Maybe all I ever heard was Caidan scuttlebutt, but his/your version is totally different from the version from what I heard. In fact what I was told was that in the three way final that Brion had already lost his fights a...

Kings will throw combattants out of Crown. In Caid, Duke Edward and Duke Avery were having such an atrocious final round that King Dietrich threw them both out of Crown, and crowned the third place entrant, Brion Thornbird as his successor.

If someone enters Crown, and is blatantly cheating, it is within the Crown's right to throw them out on the spot (actually they can throw anyone out for anything they like pretty much). The real problem arises when a really skilled fighter uses a "get out of jail free card," and shucks off one good ...

Mac, I believe the nullified Crown that you referred to was fought in An Tir. The issues with it are that it takes the winning of Crown out of the hands of the individual, and places it onto less responsible heads. Where each of the "finalists" may be virtuous, their "followers" may not be. I see th...

An analogous situation is that there are more caucasians in the United States than any other group, but no one is in the majority (over 50%) anymore. What you describe is endemic of how all minority groups within the Sca are forcing fighting out. Not all are as rude as the group you decide, but all the "little things" are squeezing out the fighting.

not ruling them out all together, just the relevance and prevalence past the 4th century declines very quickly. Also the length seems to drop rather quickly as well.

Just a note on Pteruges-

I wore mine for a long time, until I realized that most armors if not all , epsecially post 300AD or so, with a lamellar body armor didn't use them. I still neet to modify my shoulder armor to get them off of there as well.

I wear gamboissed cuisses under pants for my early re-creations. I think that the padding combined with your pteruges might give you the protection level that you are looking for without having to add in extra plastic.
