if gruber and kiyohara are going in on it, then I might want to as well.

I am interested in 20ga spring, some 18ga spring, maybe some 22ga spring, and some 18 ga stainless. By some I mean 4-10 4x4 shets of each.

"Sounds like your system is a lot of BS." Firstly it is not 'my' system, I was questioning your statement that you guys would beat such and such guys given certain conditions. And like it or not some of those compromises means that the systems can only be compared when the set up is pretty much the...

I think there is a vital miscommunication going on here. I am going to seriously dork out in the analogy I am about to use, but please bare with me. The rules/conception of the SCA can be seen one of two ways: 1) Some people see the SCA a basic ruleset that anyone can take and use as an overlay for ...

Grimoire, Sounds like your system is a lot of BS. If you are training with killing blows then you can't actually be fighting for real. The only "real" part I am suggesting getting rid of death. If a sword thrust to the face results in someone dying, then lets not use it. What is the bottom line you ...

I think it could be done. Gruber and I worked out many of the numbers, and I found that there was a profit margin, if you limit the scope of your products, and only deal in off the shelf items. Never take a commission. We ran into problems when we violated that business model. There is a risk factor...

Hi, Many people have commented on how much they like the bargrill on this helmet? Might I ask why? Do people like the shape? Do they find it to be more "period" aesthetically? Personally I don't like the center ridge, or riveted on grills. My personal preference is for the style eldrid tremayne (fro...

"If we limited this hypothetical tournament to the Dukes vs HACA/WMA/I.33 I bet the Dukes would end up winning (wraps and no grappling and all). " Then you are not actually comparing the two are you, you are restricting the actions of one to match your own. Grimoire- Sorry you mis-read that- I am c...

Some of us, like myself, choose to participate in SCA combat strictly because the possibilities, and limitations, it provides for sporting combat. Although training with steel might be interesting, I don't care to do it. Likewise, I don't care to get hit in the shins, knees, or grapple. I also gener...

I think if you wear vambraces and gauntlets with a half cuff, you would pass the letter of the law, and be quite safe.

Oh wait- that's already what most of us are wearing.

The Lowest Common Denominator of the SCA should be having a REASONABLY PERIOD APPEARANCE, not simply FIGHTING ON THE FIELD. This is the big place where change needs to happen in the SCA. Too long we have allowed guys to scrape by with crap because we wanted them our there for one reason or another. ...

Animal, You mention that Tuchuk armor is "legal" at SCA events. In some Kingdoms, particularly Atlantia and Caid (although y'all will probably never go there), it isn't legal, because non-period equipment and materials are plainly visible. It would be nice if you all started policing some of that as...

Why should we support fighters wearing obvious workman's boots, visible plastic, and profiles that obviously in...

with spring and stainless steels available, and readily available silks, linens, and wools, there is no reason why anyone should look bad at all. With well made armor and equipment, no reason why their armor should hold them back from being a top level fighter in the SCA.
