In Caid, I outlawed the term "Youth Boffer(s)" when I was on the throne. The term can just be taken too many wrong ways. Caid also refers to it as Youth Combat now (I believe). Caid has a "Bofficer" who is in charge of youth combat, and I believe the "Minister of Youth Combat" is under the Marshalla...

Aren't kids allowed to fence? As in train for Olympic style fencing? I am sure that people would consider fencing a "steel combat group." What rules do they follow? I would also consider weight classes over age groups. Kids grow at much different rates, and a 105lb 16 year old vs a 185 lb 16 year ol...

His Knight, Sir Geoffrey Fitzgalen- an excellent armorer made for him.

Geoff is a fine resource in that area, and you should exploit him!!! Also, Geoff has changed the Met srle to have more realistic tasset/fauld plates than the Met version.

Also, tell him I said hi :)

I'd like to find out what the format of the tournament is, because with this list, weapons choice and depth will play a large factor in how well people (especially Munenori) do. There are 2 big guys who fight with large swords and shields, and can kind of hide behind them and strike out when safe/ne...

Gruber and I have done a number of these recently that turned out quite well.

Most of the shaping that we did was done just hammering the steel into a piece of soft wood- I think a shot bag would work equally as well. You really don't need a deep dishing stump for this one.

A hand behind a shield is an an open area regarding a significant number of shots and "offensive shield moves," while the elbow is at a less business end of the shield.

If we would just get rid of stupid "losing limbs" rules we wouldn't have to worry about what people did or did not wear behind their shields. Maybe one day we will reform our sport and make it something much cooler than what it is. Right now, it is just a dorky kid's mis-representation of medieval s...

Sharpie can get thin spots, but it works fine. Epecially when you get an idea of what to look out for. In any case, sharpies are very accessible, and easy to work with- i.e. just fine for a first try. Nail polish, testor paint markers, enamel paint, etc all work very well too. Have fun Alaric

I do have to say that the way most people where armor in the SCA, they just don't look right without at least front greaves on.

It looks like a solid bastard sword is the weapon of choice.
