My bet is that you are mounting them wrong. If I remember the pic of your armor, you are not a large guy, so two things 1) the shoulders are not dished deep enough, so they are not resting properly in place, and are prone to rotation, 2) the mounting itself allows for too much rolling motion on the ...

Was this an Eastern Crown final? Maybe one where a certain now ex-master broke the weld on a certain duke's helmet, and he continued to call the shots light?

One of the reasons I stopped doing as many demos as I used to, was one day I realized that a lot of people in the audience were wondering just what I was, in the essence that although I was wearing shiny armor, I was not the classical definition of what a knight isn't shining armor is. Richard, Darius' name and persona change probably has something to do with the fact that his previous names, such as Johann, and Gunther Pathwarden, then Gunther the Witch Hunter were all proclamed by the Heralds to not be documentable. I am not joking. In this scenario, there would be no heavies allowed to attack the cavalry. The Cav would simply get a chance to rout the archers before the battle starts in earnest. It would be a "period" response to the archers, and also an in kind response to their singling out of knights and the...

Combat Archery and Cavalry

What if in one battle with CA at Pennsic, we allowed for a "Cavalry Charge?" Basically, when the battle starts. each side's "cavalry units" could rush out, and while not attacking the other side's heavies, run down all the archers then return to their original positions, after which point the battle...

When I think of non-fighters (and non former royalty), I rarely think of them in terms of a Kingdom. For some reason, I always think about fighters in terms of where they are from, what they fight with- basically what team are they on and what position do they play. I remember the greats of each kin...

I would personally stay with 10-12 ga for the helmet- I like the mass of the helmet itself absorbing some of the energy of the impact. Annealing is the process of resoftening the metal as you work it. When done sith a piece, you heat it briefly to 1600 degrees +- a hair, and quench rapidly in water,...

spring steel is a high carbon steel that can be heat hardened. Spring steel can also be made very "springy" through the right applications of heating and quenching. You can also harden mild steel though a process called case hardening. Due to the higher carbon content and its structure, carbon steel...

If it is already hardened you should anneal it before working it.
You will definitely find that it can crack through work shaping and you need to anneal it regularly to make sure that it stays soft enough to continue working.

D. While shopping the other day, I noticed that Nerf makes something that looks (oddly enough) like a Nerf lawn dart- fins and all. It's called a Nerf Howler, and you can throw them VERY far. Sarnac:

Base cost is $550- options such as wing design, flutes, 3 or 4 lame design, upper thigh plate, hinges vs leather, etc can shoot the price up towards $7-800 a pair.

Why are you attempting to "fight 1500 fights?"

It shouldn't be too hard to do over a two week period, but why are you formalizing it into something like this.

Why not just go up to the field and meet and fight as many people as you can?

Having had that helmet on more than once, I can assure you thatthe 10 or 12 ga (can't remember exactly) steel from which it is made, with all the shaping and hammer hardening- won't bend. I wouldn't worry about it getting hit at all.

That is Ugo's work. It was made for Merlin (his real name), who now has some sort of Roman sounding name ;)

That helmet also made appearances in a Toyota Commercial (maybe Dodge?), and Witchblade.
