There is no "realism" in SCA battles in the sense that you are using it.

You may occasionally get "that feeling" but SCA does not and never will equal war or real fighting.

SCA fighting is a sport.

The issue isn't really whether or not a properly functioning shafted arrow is safe or not (because those probably are), but rather how UNSAFE the defective ones are and how damaging they might be that is the issue at hand, because even defective siloflex is relatively safe to an armored combattant. g-

Looks like there might be about 4 sets of pieces for Coats of Plates. These aren't the best but all the pieces are there.

They should fit a small to medium sized person.

OK here is a basic rundown. The Corrazina/Globoses can be XL/L, but I am not sure how that translates to some people. I do not think the XL is for anyone over say 250. I am not sure they would fit an Uther sized person either... Here is a basic list of the things I have: Finished/ mostly finished pi...

I wish people would stop comparing what we do to medieval or any war. it isn't. We are playing at a sport. I feel compelled, through years of camaraderie, let alone my oath as a Knight to take the field in battles where I would normally choose not to. If I am injured, or tired, or just plain have so...

As a Duke and Knight, I do not have a simple choice to vote with my feet as other fighters so. I have an obligation to lead, and one to help my Kingdom to win. Leading the boycott of archery would be one way of leading. CA in its current inherently unsafe form and obnoxious usage should simply disa...

I dislike CA, I feel it completely alters and ultimately unbalances the game of SCA combat. I feel that all shafted arrows are potentially unsafe to a degree that I do not care to be on the field with them, not near a field where they are being used. My sincere dislike of archers their tactics and a...

Clearinghouse- House of the Wolf

Last Summer, Dan and I put in a lot of work putting product together for Pennsic. A lot of it is still around and sitting in boxes. Dan is looking to clean out his backlog, and take care of a few things, and he and I have agreed that selling some of this gear at cut rates might help out with that. H...

A shield can be used to deny space. Any time your opponent moves their arm, you can move your shield into that space. This does not mean that you are forcing your shield on their arm, but you are limiting the space into which they can move freely. Some people frown upon or don't like this. Some peop...

Simply put- people fight differently in practice than in tournament. You are running into this not only in your own personal performance and expectations on the tourney field vs practice field, but in that your opponents are fighting differently as well. Now that I am a bit out of practice, I lose q...
